Getting technical eh, Wizard? What ever the case most Norwegian black(extreme0 metal is overrated. I'm not suprised south, maybe check out their earlier stuff or even RUUN but I can't make any promises that you'll enjoy it.

This came out today, time to click onto amazon and purchase. I love the soloing on this album the most but an amazing album nonethless. My #1 for 2008 as of now.

They are still predominantly death metal/ folk with very little black metal. With the exception of death it's quite right.
They used to be black/viking in their old ages, and became progressive/viking later. Talah.
I actually was quite disapointed with this release, especially after releasing 3 classic albums and 1 superb album... Still giving it a change though.

on my fourth listen and this is impressing me more and more. the prog elements are outstanding. im sort of not liking the screams on this album as much as their others, but the cleans have improved. might bump this up to a 4.5 after a few more listens and im trying to decide if this will make my top 10 list (about a 70% chance right now)

It's amazing, how the heck not? Give it some time, although this was love on first sight for me. I personally love the growling and the harshness it brings. My #1 as of now.
