Metal is unfortunately a dying breed

That has got to be the worst review I have ever read. This guy either hasn't actually listened to all of Trivium's material or he is just plain idiotic. First how you can compare Trivium to KSE i will never know, and second they sound like who ever is popular at the time?? You have got to be joking. Yes they did have alot of resemblances to Metallica on The Crusade but because Metallica were popular at that time more than when Trivium first started?? And the song titles having no meaning and are just Japanese-inspired? Clearly you don't know anything about the lyrics because besides the words 'Kirisute Gomen' and 'Shogun' there is nothing Japanese about them. People who have no idead about the music they are reviewing shouldn't be allowed to write them

Learn to do a little background research before calling the entire album "Japanese."
As stated above me, Kirisute Gomen and Shogun are the only two Japanese inspired songs on the album. The rest comes from Greek and Roman mythology.

saying the songs get repetative, therefore implying its boring, is completely ignorant because if you listen to any genre or particular band, (if they are decent enough - they will have their own original sound.)
the first half of songs on shogun and crusade are the same/similar style, and the second half of both albums are similar because thats their original sound. If you play guitar you'd understand.
Also something you said which completely contradicts itself - at the end of the 4th paragraph - the beginning of the 5 th -
'...with little progression whatsoever...Musically it shows plenty of progression'
that made me laugh

I play guitar every day, Trivium suck at songwriting, soloing doesnt take talent, writing a good solo takes talent. how the fuck is saying something is repetitive ignorant, for one, if it is then get over it, for two sometimes its a good thing, you're being ignorant, wow a turn of events there! This Message Edited On 01.21.09

lol it actually is a great song name if you understand the lyrics, which actually don't suck.

No, the lyrics are pretty cool. Just....weird coming from Trivium.

Yeah it is kind of weird that a band with horrendous lyrics throughout their history would pull something like that out of their asses.
|

Yeah true. Lyrics do a good job of matching Heafy's ego though.
Is Corey Bealieu still fat?

I do not for the life of me understand how people can say this band and KSE sound similar, at all. KSE definitely takes a more emotional approach to both the instrumentation and lyrics. Hell, you could even call some of Jones' singing operatic at times, where Heafy has a much more subdued approach.
Shogun does admittedly have a bit of an identity crisis, but I will point out that heafy has started to throw some gory themes in, which is a bit surprising. I can understand the complaints about some of the song lengths, but personally i think the good outweighs the bad by a large majority.
In regards to the review, He Who Spawned the Furies is one hell of a song. I wonder if heafy has been listening to some eyes of fire lately, cause i definitely here some doom metal thrown in.
