I don't get why it's the cool thing to review this record. I haven't seen one other really relevant review of it apart from my own and this one.

I used to think that they were the heaviest band ever. I was completely wrong.

Its obvious slipknot hates the fact that their music isnt taken seriously because their fanbase consists on 13 year old wannabees thinking their metalheads so they decided to try something more varied... it seems they over did it... they tried mixing so many things together, the only good things that came out were songs based on their traditional style like Psychosocial and all hope is gone.

is the intend of getting rich of a ex-solid band that knew how to make their heavy but meaningfull music, but lost their main base and got into P@ssy´s wannabes kind of music, i even liked Vol. 3, but this SH1T sounds like P.O.D trying to get into a grindcore kind of feeling...

Vol. 3 was perfect. This is them trying something different and it just didnt work. One of the biggest problems was the way that they recorded it. dont use that producer ever again and never record an album as separate parts again. They did guitars, then drums then vocals. How do they even feel like a band if they dont all go to the recording studio as one and come out with their finished piece all together.

what are you? stupid? I'm pretty sure that nearly every band records the instruments separately.

Yeah, most groups do. It sometimes works better is to record separately, but you often loose the genuine feeling that is associated with a group playing. Iron Maiden on their last few records played live, and that yielded some good results.

It's more of what is current the norm, what the group are most comfortable doing, and ultimately what works best.

This disappointed me hugely. I can't even listen to it all the way through anymore, get bored halfway through and end up putting something else on.

I was hoping it would be similar to their older stuff with some of Vol.3 mixed in. Oh well....still going to go see them on their UK tour in Dec.

I'll admit it - I'm a maggot. (And I'm 28 years old).

I believe that if you love then you love unconditionally- through thick or thin - through the good albumns...and the bad. And, as I'm sure you can guess - I love Slipknot.

I will admit that this is not their strongest or most cohesive effort, however, I love Slipknot, therefore, I love this albumn. I am not a fair-weather fan - I will not stop listening to them just because the songs on this albumn don't flow together like they should or that some of the songs are actually very Stone-Sourey...or Korn-ish...or even Disturbed-y. I will not stop listening to them because I absolutely HATE the "power ballad" song. I will not stop listening to this CD - or stop it halfway through because I'm bored with the songs towards the end of it.

No matter what they do, I will always listen to them and keep my mind open to their new music because I know without a doubt these guys are beyond talented and able to produce music that can blow anybody's f**cking head off. I just hope they are able to learn from their mistakes on this albumn so they can create an even better one next time (if there is a next time!). I have no doubts they can create a sound that is 100% Slipknot, yet also 100% grown-up and mature. They are still, obviously, mastering their craft as they all get older and the music scene changes.

So, on that note - MAGGOT 4 LIFE MOFO'S!!

(Oh and JERIMIAH - the lyrics go like this: "you are wrong, f**cked, and overrated - I think I'm gonna be sick and it's your fault.")

There are bands that I'm like that with, just not Slipknot.

As for the rest of that post, I don't know how "beyond talented" they are but they're not bad.

This 3.3 average is considerably more on-point than the 2 point-something it was heading for

You know as somebody who never liked Slipknot that much in the first place...this isn't really all that bad...some tracks are surprisingly good actually...I expected to hate this...

Slipknot is the sole reason i hate mallcore kids. I could swear i heard some blast beats in breakdowns in this CD. WTH? ROFL. Are you serious? This is going back to the roots? Dude i can honestly admit i was moved by iowa. but this is mainstream Hot topic garbage. this review was pretty good. Not to many errors. This should be the soundtrack to people throwing thier babies in woodchippers.

I'll have to admit that slip knots fan base is by and large a wanna be metal head teens play ground. Those douche bags you see that makes you want to take a metal bat to their knees...and then their faces. So yeah i'd be pretty pissed off if I was Corey too, and it wouldn't be childish or for no reason. Though creating this album in the way it was probably wasn't the best idea.

After a few listens it's grown on me somewhat like most of their stuff does and hell they aint dead yet, always the next album to make...hopefully with more uniformity along the lines of the better tracks on this album.
