And I actually pointed out that my statement was speculative. I didn't state it as fact, such as the person that wrote the review. Read first. Talk shit later.

It Hates You has some pretty fun songs on it.

It's a nit-picky criticism, but it's technically true, so to clear the air:

I definitely meant Croom was the primary lyricist as opposed to writing every part of the song. Proof of that is found in this interview here:

I definitely did leave out Tanbouz from this review, as I didn't do my research clearly enough (apparently)--I thought Bell was the lead guitarist. My bad (I actually made the same mistake on my "It Hates You" review).

Well, yes I did make an assumption, but if you will read the part after that I used actual information about the band's history that backs up that assumption. Which is different, in my opinion, than blindly saying that Schuylar is the primary songwriter without having any information that supports that statement. But I guess you win, because I'm a new guy. Shucks, the smart guy on the internet bested me. Bummer.

Nothing you said really backed up your point. Bell was one of the founding members, and the band's sound took perhaps its largest step away from this album on It Hates You, which is the first album Bell did not contribute to. To make such an assumption off of the information you presented is much less credible than assuming that Croom is the primary lyricist (which I knew is what he meant rather than songwriter), as vocalists generally write their own lyrics.

To Emim:

The term "songwriter" is much more broad than the term "lyricist." Yes, singers are typically the ones that write the lyrics, but to say he is the main songwriter is inaccurate. I was saying that so the author of this review could revise his review to make it more concise and accurate. That is usually what comments on a review are supposed to be for.

Bell was a "founding member" of He Is Legend, yes. Meaning, he was in the band when they changed their name to "He Is Legend." The other four members (Tanbouz, Croom, Williams and Bache) had been playing together for many many years under different names before Bell was added to the band. Adam has been the original main guitar player since the members were in high school and they also had another second guitar player play with The Uriah Omen (which was the band name before He Is Legend) before Bell joined the band. That information can be found in many places as well as interviews that the band has done. SO... that is not an assumption. Do some research. And if you think It Hates You is the biggest step away from I Am Hollywood, then I just disagree. I think it sounds like a more natural progression from I Am Hollywood than Suck Out the Poison (and Bell WAS a part of that recording process) does. I love Suck Out the Poison, but it sounds NOTHING like I Am Hollywood. It Hates You at least has things about it that reminds me of the days of I Am Hollywood.

@Kris:

CAUSE YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG

@andihateyou (lol):

Suck Out the Poison still retained many of the post-hardcore elements found on the previous albums, while It Hates You is more of a continuation of some of the stoner elements that were present on I am Hollywood. I simply find more in common between IAH and SOTP than IAH and IHY.

Also, I haven't found anything that says "had been playing together for many many years under different names before Bell was added to the band.", everything I've found implies that he was there since the beginning. Regardless, that doesn't have much if any bearing on my point, which by the way, was simply to point out your rather hypocritical criticism. No more, no less.

Yeah, did some searching...the way I gather it, they all went to the same high school together. Steve and McKenzie had a band, Schulyer and Adam had a band, then Adam and Steve started playing together, then then they all came together to form He Is Legend...something like that, at least. Point is, all the members of the band had been playing with each other in some form or another since they started playing music before HIL formally formed.

The Creature Walks definitely has one of the most boner-inducing basslines evar.

It's like bum-ba-dum-ba-ba-BONER. And you can't even control it.
