to me, 'above average metalcore' translates to 'boring breakdown riddled sceneXcore'

About as good as Aussie hardcore gets really (not necessarily a good thing). Still need to hear the whole thing though. Although, I haven't seen them live and I can imagine them going off, although the best live aussie hardcore act I've seen is Dissect the Thought.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think they have potential.

Their a bit more technical then HVH, but still love their breakdown's.

I like them mainly because they remind me of Misery Signals. Yeah, I actually really like the electronic side of HVH although they could do with a bit more subtlety at times.

Most of the electronics on this are pure cheese i reckon.

True, but its not a totally off cheese. I dunno, if they manage to meld it with the overall songs more fluently I think it could be something really interesting, and fairly innovative.

Please, Australian hardcore is known for being extremely shitty. And it is. These guys have shitloads of potential, its not fully realised here but its definitely there. Tonnes better than our current well known bands - Parkway Drive for instance. Ergh.

I think it's important to support bands like this, our hardcore scene has a pretty bad name.

I agree with Captain North. Our Hardcore/Metal scene is shit thanks to bands like Parkway Drive and IKTPQ.

But there is still a few good bands out there.

wtf, dissect the thought seemed to have disappeared from the internets. oh well.

And, well, that's a completely different kind of hardcore. And it's not exactly that original either. Good at what its doing though. EDIT: Woops, directed at David.

And *shrug* I'm happy to be educated in good australian hardcore bands. I only really know shitty ones in my area and the more well known ones nationwide.

Ill Brigade are one of the hardest working and most genuine hardcore bands around right now. They play my kind of hardcore. House VS Hurricane is so, so, so ridiculously far from what Australian hardcore is about. You have no idea.

So here's a few pages to suss out:

http://www.myspace.com/epitomesband (in my opinion, one of the greatest underground Australian bands of all time; insanely underappreciated in their time. RIP)

I don't think I can really judge bands very well on myspace anymore. It just feels like all the power of the music is ripped out. But lets see:

Break A Leg - eh, alright, fairly boring for the most part.

Vera - this shit is solid. and cool, fear before have an aussie tour coming up, I'll check that out now. and you can tell they're a true aussie band, because they actually have asians.

Epitomes - great instrumentation, shitty vocals. But I think I could get used to it.

I'll check out the others later once my internet is better.
