After the surprise-factor of the first few listens is gone, this album becomes weak pretty fast.
Well put.
I'm on the fence on whether or not to neg this, the opening paragraph is just lame.

That post makes me think you deserve many negs.

It's funny how much controversy each one of your reviews start, ilikemusicthatsucks.

^^Yeah I know. I need to do an Opeth review and get on some people's good side here I guess.

Other than the ridiculous first paragraph, this is well written, as all of your reviews have been. I just completely disagree.

Generally you make a few fair minor points but it almost seems as if you're biased towards disliking this band. Lyrics-wise you focus only on the somewhat mundane. You ignore lines such as:
Language is the heart's lament; a weak attempt to circumvent the loneliness inherent in the search for permanence.
Fair do's if you regard it as an attempt to be smart, personally I'm inclined to disagree, yet regarding it as mediocre writing is simply naive. The vocals are something you either hate or love, which you have proven yourself, thus it would only be fair to a newcomer to PtH to actually mention this general sentiment.
Together with the ludicrous first paragraph (which your sentence "I sure hope nobody actually thinks lines like that are in any way profound, good, cool or even funny." would be quite appropriate for), I see quite some potential in your writing if you don't let your stark opinion cloud yourself too much. Gonna get rid of the first paragraph cuz apparently literally everybody hates it.

lol, stark opinion cloud.
The more I read this review, the more I like it, and the closer I am to posing it.

Here's the problems I have:
The comparison to Chiodos is ridiculous, and would only work for Kezia. You also don't mention his massive improvement, nor do you elaborate on his screaming.
Almost the whole album is catchy, as I know most people will agree with.
The complete lack of mention about the bass is somewhat offensive and implies you weren't really listening.

You could have done more research, and found out who that "little man" from Chiodos is.

zuzek you point out that sentence but if you read it in context, it's a pretty lame song dude. it's so not-as-profound-as-it-tries-to-be, and that bothers me a lot in music. and it does a lot of people, really. and think of it in the context of that "song suite," and you realize that overall the lyrics fail because the convoluted storyline is just kind of retarded. they can use their thesauruses all they want but it doesn't disguse the fact that their "message" isn't any more shallow than anything any alt rock band is doing out there.

You don't have to individually point out each instrument. Tbh, reviews that do seem n00bish anyway.
