How can you guys think As I Lay Dying is bad? The only reason I'd think you wouldnt like them is because you dont like the genre, Killswitch and Chimaria arent they only good metalcore bands, and dude killswitch does not blow man, they are great.

Well, for me, it's because of the bad lyrics, the horrible clean vocals and the fact half of the guys screams don't fit the music.

Can someone liken these guys to another band for me? I'm having trouble gathering what they sound like.

the shotgun message wrote this.. ''The lyrics to this record are again fantastic with lambesis’s poetic scribblings being both well thought out and intelligent. The lyrics while noticeably Christian are not overly so and should not put you off this CD, as god is not mentioned once and instead love is the main topic written about. This CD puts Lambesis up there with Jacob Bannon as the best lyricist in metal and hardcore.''

just because bands write lyrics that are christian-based and mention god doesnt mean theyre bad or you shouldnt listen to them. you shouldnt have to substitute 'God' to win listeners.

does anyone else just love the guitar part leading up to the breakdown in track 6 - reflection? i love it..thats a sweet breakdown.

I agree with Jordan, I mean, it worked for Creed and P.O.D. right?! (*wink wink)

Haha!!

But seriously, I do like this cd, and to tell you the truth, I can hardly understand what the singer is saying, so in that case, does it matter what the lyrics say?

Also in an interview he explains how his tatoos on his right arm resemble his christian fate, and he said his tatoos resemble alot of what their music says... the facts show that they are indeed a band with a christian faith, they probably just don't preach it as much as other bands.

Empty Hearts is hands down the best song on this album IMO. the solo combined with the breakdown makes me pee pants in wonder

This is seriously one of the best albums I've heard, both lyrically and instrumentally. Its true poetry. The insane riffs and cathy intros [Through Struggle] make it that much more awesome. The back up vox from the bassist fit perfectly with every song. Very Good album.

that was such a horrible review. misspellings in every direction. if you didnt notice, the vocalist from zao is actually on track 10, control is dead. the only correct things about this review would be the names of the band members, the exceptional drum work and the mentioning about the band being a metal band. the album was much more professional. a huge stand out from most metal albums that have recently come out.

^ well i look forward to seeing if you can do better, and if you had bothered to read the comments you would see that the issue of dan being on track 10 has been cleared up.

No you shouldnt but to some people it would be off putting for the lyrics to feature god to prominently as they do not wish to have religion shoved down their throats. I for one do not beleive in religion but do not mind and infact enjoy lyrics written from a strong christian perspective. However i hate it when people (not just bands) try to force, what i feel are foolish beliefs onto others. This Message Edited On 02.06.06

i saw this band live a few weeks ago and they sound just as good live as they do on the album. The guitarist write some good stuff to go along with the drums and vocals, and everything is just pieced together so perfectly. Followed up with some really heavy/catchy breakdowns doesnt hurt either
i highly recommend

Wow...where did they go wrong? The previous effort was a solid, if generalised metalcore album. But at least they had a reasonably distinct sound.

Here? This sounds like Darkest Hour on depressants, and pre-puberty.

Musically they're still pretty strong, but there's more than a good hook to making a good album. This fails miserably. A real dissapointment. This Message Edited On 02.23.06
