First off you need to back up everything you just said. Anyone can just say "Oh, this is better than this because I say so". That sort of attitude doesn't fly here. You think Megadeth are better than Metallica? Fine, as long a you back up your opinions. Second, their instrumentals are far from superior. Overall, I'd call it about a tie. I'll admit that Mustaine is better than Hammet, but don't forget about Hetfield. Most people on't know this because he's the rhythm guitarist, but Hetfield can shred up a storm when he wants to. In fact, he writes most of Kirk's solos. If you think Dave is such an astounding guitarist go watch him try and play the solo to Cemetery Gates on youtube. Lastly, you're obviously biased as in reality Megadeth and Metallica are rather similiar bands and pretty evenly matched instrumentally (not counting Lars), so if you like when you really can't be too unfond of the other unless you have it in for them.
No one's dissing James. He's an awesome guitarist. However one guitarist does not make a band. Most of Kirk's solos that Mustaine wrote aren't really that great, with the exception of MoP, and Fade to Black.
I'm not a Megadeth fanboy. I like both bands a lot. However, I don't think you can say Metallica has been equal with Megadeth instrumental wise. Marty Friedman is one of the best metal guitarists -ever-, and Chris Poland is also incredible. Dave Mustaine is an incredible rhythm player and also a good lead player (Just because he effed one song up doesn't mean that he can't play at all.), especially considering his injury.
Anyway, both bands are amazing and I think it's a good thing Mustaine got the boot from Metallica, or we'd only have one great band instead of two.

Most of the solos that Mustaine didn't write, that is.

I don't thing it would be possible for Lars and Dave to co-exist in one band. Not enough room for their egos.

I'm really digging this album right now. All the members really compliment eachother in great ways. Chris Poland had definitely improved a lot since killing is my business, on which I think his solos were very out of place. Mustaine is also a very outside the box guitar player. How he uses chromatics in "wake up dead" just amazes me. His solos got pretty boring after CTE, but they're better now. I also think the blues cover is pretty good. it shows that they can play more than just metal shredding.

With the usernames Metallicaman and Mustaine31 you know that was going to be interesting.
But anyway Megadeth absolutely crushes anything Metallica has ever done and a big fuck off to those who think otherwise! This Message Edited On 12.18.07

So incredibly false. Nothing Megadeth has done has beat Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning. Take any of their other albums, then your comment applies.

Read my review for this album and you'll have my opinion on Rust In Peace, Peace Sells, Master of Puppets and Reign in Blood. Being completely unbiased here, Id have to say RIP doesn't deliver as much as most people think.

I already read your shitty review. wrong on all accounts.
:p I did read it when it came out though (very good stuff too) and I can understand all your points but I'm a Megadeth fanboy, there's no convincing me that RIP isn't one of the best metal albums ever.
I could never call Metallica "Shitallica" until after the s/t. the stuff they did up to and before it were awesome, I won't dispute it, i just prefer Megadeth by a wide margin. This Message Edited On 12.18.07

Haha. You think this and RIP are classics, I think Ride the Lightning is better by a huge margin - agree to disagree. Im just making a point that this or RIP doesnt "crush" MOP or RTL. I agree it tramples anything afterwards.

I would have to say it definitely destroys RTL, considering Dave wrote some of the songs on that album and he wasn't as great of a songwriter then. Now I can see someone not thinking its better than MoP, I'll give you that. Like I said, Metallica is a great band and MoP is amazing I just think Megadeth (specifically during the RIP era) were superior songwriters/musicians.
If you want to hear something really entertaining though look up on Bearshare or something Megadeth's cover of Battery. /suckage

The album is kick ***. I love Good Mourning; its just such a awsome riff with good solo's throughout it and the lyrics are really cool. I seriously think Dave was sober when he wrote that song... its sooo insanely good musicaly.

Great album, but Rust in Peace pretty much destroys this.

Wow kick ass album so insane thrashy. But umm yeah Rust In Peace IS WAYYYYY OVERRATTED the only good thing on that album is the guitar playing, minus that its just ok. a 3/5 for me. But this album owns every Megadeth album.

Megadeth>Metallica to this very day.
Hell even Metallica's new album won't compare to even United Abominations.
I respect Metallica to some point but their music and image rub me the wrong way.

This album is great, I too don't enjoy the superstitous song, but I guess you can't take it too seriously.
My last words though is a killer song and a great finisher.
