Sorry, but it's really not irrelevant even though you guys are just making a joke of the conversation now anyway. Punk rock was made under the premise of being simple and black metal was also made under the principle of being primitive and minimalistic.
Sure, there are some great black metal bands that have expanded and made some not so primitive black metal, but I challenge you to point me in the direction of a technical black metal band because I have yet to find one. Necrophagist-style black metal is just not a reality.

Anaal Nathrakh plays kind of a technical style of Black Metal.

After listening to the first song on their myspace I can safely say that their music has far more in common with death metal and has too much grindcore influence in it to even be considered black metal. The music wasn't even low production. It pretty much didn't have any real traits of black metal.
Their old stuff was blackened death, but it's not really that technical either.

Their first album is straight up Black Metal. I would say they're Blackened Death Metal now maybe.

No to both of those statements.

Hahahahah but you love everything and anything with the black metal tag attached to it.
I don't find all black metal fantastic, especially these guys because they are sloppy as hell and the production (even though I really like the low production levels on most black metal records) on here is just stale as shit. I still find this album good once in a while but Darkthrone will never have that bleak emotion that bands like bands like Emperor and Burzum possess.

How is Darkthrone sloppy? It's how it's supposed to be. Raw and primitive black metal. Also, considering this came out in 1992 before any of the other black metal classics the production can hardly be called stale. Darkthrone invented this sound. The followers are the ones that make it stale. I do agree that Emperor and Burzum's music contains much more emotion, though. This Message Edited On 05.11.08

I have never been one to give a shit about "How a genre is supposed to sound". Maybe its because I don't particularly enjoy raw and primitive black metal, who knows. And in terms of sloppiness, I don't really see how the instruments are not sloppy. You certainly can't call this a tight album at all.
