I'm listening to this album for the first time today, and I have to say I am very pleased.

Adrenaline and Around the Fur are tied among others for the best Metal albums of all-time 10/10

I definitely agree with what The Wizard said about people conforming to elitist views on this site.. it's pretty obvious (and I've only been a member for a week! Although I've been lurking/stalking for a year..). For me, it goes:
White Pony>Adrenaline>Deftones>Around The Fur=Saturday Night Wrist>B-Sides & Rarities

Minus Blindfold, Engine no. 9 top favourites, but like every track is good here and it's hard to pick any other... will have to listen more

metalmaniac1987, your a complete moron, this album is all types of awesome, and the Deftones has completely evolved from this sound to be something all thier own

Nah, their worst. Some good songs though.
I need to edit my rating, more like a 2.5/3

before my death metal days i used to like this band and this album alot, but then i realized that numetal really sucks, the only thing thats cool is how deftones use really odd chords and chord progressions they sound pretty cool

Yes, Deftones will always be amazing. One of the greatest bands to ever come out of nu-metal.
Chino is the fucking man, might I add. His vocal range is just insane.

Can't wait until they finally release their new album, I'll probably be in my 40's by then

Supposedly it will be out by March Kashmir. They've had Eros finished for almost a year I think but have shelved it indefinitely (my guess is they're hoping Chi gets better and they'll release it then).
Have you heard the new song they've been performing live called Rocket Skates? You can find some videos of it on youtube.

Yeah 'pit, I really like it. Reminds me of the heavier stuff off self-titled or even a litte of Around the Fur.

exactly, and as much as i love white pony and everything after that, i miss the in-your-face deftones a lot,a nd that's what rocket skates remind me of

word dude, couldn't agree more. I love White Pony through SNW as much as anyone but it's nice to hear them going back to their roots a little bit. You know they'll still pull some weird shit too, which is always one of the fun things about Deftones.

they always do.... it's something you can count on. it's funny how they've progressed, too. adrenaline was as close to hardcore as nu metal got, around the fur was one of my favorite heavy albums of that decade, and white pony initially gave me that "whaaaaa?" reaction, but i ended up loving it. self titled was the worst album, but it was still good. SNW was them going back to being the genious band that they are. amazing band and one of the few that are still pushing hard

Man, I know a lot of people think self-titled is their worst; but at this point it's my favorite besides White Pony. I just love the atmosphere in songs like Needles & Pins, Minerva, Death Blow and Battle Axe while the heavy/hardcore side is there in Bloody Cape, When Girls Telephone Boys, Hexagram and Good Mourning Beautiful. Not a bad song on that album in my opinion. Adrenaline would be third; and I definitely agree about it being as close to hardcore as nu metal got (although the first Sevendust album -- and maybe even Home -- make a good run at it along with Snot).
