I thought this debut was petty damn good, i can seriously see them being a really really big band in the future, got hooked on to helicopter, then listened to the album n was amazed how good it was. A lot of great new bands are really coming out in Britain XD

Well, i didnt even know what the band looked like before i heard them, and i still thought they rocked. Pretty good album, i think theres still a lot left from them, they deserve the hype.

I don't get Bloc Party at all it's just dull Indie rock.I'm not been racist or anything, but for some reason critics think that because Kele's black (and it's rare 2 c a black guy fronting an Indie band) their doing something new, fresh and original but their not.

What the...? Where are you getting that from?

They aren't highly innovative but the do make good music.

this album is amazing. if i was allowed i'd rate it a 6/5 because it's so good. and with what incubliss said about little thoughts being too upbeat to be on it it isn't. i bought the album and little thoughts was on track 10 and I think that it goes perfect with the cd, it's not too upbeat or anything. If you haven't ever listened to this album i suggest you do, if you can't find it anywhere blocparty.net has some really nice downloads of a few of their songs, and/or you can go to buy.com and preview the whole cd, only about 25 seconds of each song but it works. Bloc Party is amazing and i wish you all a happy listening.

They dont play that well live i reckon cos of the massive amounts of effects put into the songs. Theres a lot of pressure to get everything right... and with 20000 people cheering them on.. its even harder

This album fails compared to a lot of other bands in this genre. It's kind of sad that the album seems to be centered around the drumming than everything else.

"This Modern Love" sounds like an Interpol ripoff.

to be honest, we all know the best thing about this album is Matt Tong's drumming. Am I right or what?

yeah matt's drumming is nothing short of amazing, but i think each member is awesome, especailly the bassist (but im just biased cause im a bassist lol), and the guitarists keep everything interesting, never playing just power chords

And the fact they all look like big nerds makes me feel happy too

I thought this album was pretty good... nothing new but one of the better british indie albums of last year.

Helicopter Banquet Like Eating Glass and This Modern Love stuck out for me

I guess thats why they are singles

a good album, but by know means amazing.once again, nme and pals have thrown at us another overrated, hyped up indie band...but saying that, this album is by no means bad.some nice guitar work, singing and the drums are excellent...positive tension and this modern love are my favourites.

Yeah, I think it's just a bonus track...a lot of bands release slightly different versions of albums in different countries, so that's probably all that it is.

This album is very good, very british. I've heard they're better live, though. Banquet is my favourite song, even though I really like Like Eating Glass, if only for the chorus. For some reason this band is akin with the arctic monkeys. Is it just me or what?
