I Think Mutter is a great CD! Mein Herz Brennt is a perfect opening song, and one of the best Rammstein-songs. But I don´t like every song the album too much. I Think that all the great songs are in the beginning on the album. The first 6 songs rocks, but the rest of the album are not that goog. But it´s a great album. Rating 3.5/5
For some reason I think I know you.

I think Mutter is an awesome record, by far the best studio album Rammstein has released.
My favorite track is "Sonne", probably the heaviest song they've written. The riff is one of the best I've heard, the vocals couldn't be more rammstein-ish, and the samples fit in perfectly. "Mein Herz Brennt", "Links 2,3,4", "Ich Will" are beside "Sonne" those tracks on the album that have become the most famous ones, and I think they're all great. Though I don't like "Feuer Frei!" (Triple X movie soundtrack) just as much.
The remaining songs are also really interesting, "Spieluhr" tells a dark middle age story. This song probably contains some of the most interesting lyrics, and the music also fits really well. It was going to be a single, but for some reason that didn't happen.
"Zwitter" and "Adios" are a little different from the others, they are a bit faster. Both good songs.
"Rein Raus" is kind of a new "Bück Dich" version, the lyrics can't really be misunderstood. It's a really funny song, and also really heavy. Nebel is the last song on the album, a ballade, that has some nice string parts, but together with "Feuer Frei", it isn't able to reach the same level as most other songs on the album.

All in all a great record, I would definitely rate it 5/5, and now I'm looking forward to the new album "Reise Reise" that will be released in Europe in a few weeks.

what is the umlaut exactly?
ü

Like that (copied from an mp3 title - I've no idea how to do it either).
Actually, an umlaut is the two dots above a letter (generally a vowel).

^That's what my post originally had in it..characters like umlauts (and occasionally apostrophes, you can see in that post by Estranged) got corrupted recently.

Yes! When my family and I were camping last weekend, my dad took out one of his cd's (It might have been Boston) and he saw another cd under it. He asks "did you lose a cd from a band called Republic?"

Me:  No, let me see it.

Me:   :smoke: Republic is Rammstein's record label.

I have been separated from this cd for 8 months, and it still sounds as good as ever.

I lived in Germany for a few years and have visited many times. I know that a lot of germans are not big fans of Rammstein, but they do have a following. Most of the germans I spoke to loved the music, but not the lyrics. I do have to agree with them as one who speaks german fluently. Some of the lyrics are pretty twisted, but some are just down right awsome. :thumb:

Live aus Berlin is a great album. They have some pretty great music videos from that album.

hahaha, like the Halleluja lyrics.

Halleluja:

He is religious and very sensitive
on his wall is a picture of the Lord
he wipes the spots from the Bible
he gladly distributes the Communion

He loves the boys in the choir
they keep their souls pure
but the tenor worries him
so he must be the closest to him *
on his nightstand, quiet and wordless
a picture of the Lord
he slowly turns it around

When the church clock strikes twice
hallelujah
he folds his hands for prayer
hallelujah
he has remained without a wife
hallelujah
so he must love his neighbor *
hallelujah

The young man is allowed to stay with him
the sin nests above the leg
so he gladly helps to exorcize it
to music and candlelight

When the church clock strikes twice
hallelujah
he folds his hands for prayer
hallelujah
he has remained without a wife
hallelujah
so he must love his neighbor *
hallelujah

When the church clock strikes twice
hallelujah
he takes the boy into his prayers
hallelujah
he is the true Christian
hallelujah
and knows what charity is *
hallelujah

Turn around slowly
Turn around

5/5 for this album (and a 5/5 for their new ablum too! Reise Reise is amazing). There's not one single song on this album I don't like, and the I still listen to them now and then.
Most of the songs on this album are amazing live too... Feuer frei, Adios and Zwitter.. What an adrenaline rush!

Yep, Adios is great live, with the burning guitar effect and all.
well, i dont think anybody knows how to make the umlaut with a standard keyboard...
Hello, try this:

ü: press ALT + 129 (works only on Num Part of the Keyboard)

I am german and I like Rammstein AND the lyrics !

On eDonkey2000 / Overnet you can find a Rammstein-like song, written by Stefan Raab (a german comedian).
Keywords to find it: raab rauchen
It sounds exactly like a Rammstein-song. The lyrics are from the warnings on german cigarette packets: "Rauchen kann tödlich sein => smoking can be deadly" or "Rauch verursacht tödlichen Lungenkrebs => smoke causes deadly lung cancer"

rammstein is a great band to rock out to, but you better play em loud dammit. i have this one and their live cd and they both are awesome. i personally wouldve given mutter a lot higher rating. at least a 4. mein herz brennt was an amazing opener, a little remeniscent of no leaf clover with the string section and all. its pretty badass when the violins kick in. links is one of the funnest guitar riffs to play, and the marching is a really cool effect (especially in the video with all the ants) id have to say the strongest tracks on the album are feuer frei (the chorus when til sings "bang! bang!..thats crazy. one of those fist pumping head banging songs, ya know?) and track ten i believe is adios. that song i always thought would be perfect for a wicked fight scene in a jet li movie or something. when it slows down for a bit and comes back in with the high pitched guitar...its like that feeling when you take a huge dump....awesome.

I really like this album... it was truly well made... sonne, links234, ich will, etc are quite the good songs. I'll review their new album Reise, Reise in a bit.

many things wrong with this review
1. They are huge in germany if not the biggest band in germany
2. they have written polictical songs like "links 2 3 4" translated this song is "left 2 3 4" and is a song stating their left wing status and opposition to the right wing
3. This is an Awesome album much better than this review gave it credit for

I genuinally feel that this is outstanding.

The whole album is epic. Songs like "Mein Herz Brent", "Sonne" and "Links 234" are industrial perfection. Infact there isn't a bad song on here. Brilliant.

Taking into consideration genre and originality, this is a classic in my opinion.

Good review, keep up the good work. This CD had it moments, but some parts just scream mediocre to me.

nahhhhhhhh this album deserves much more than a 3.5/5. i can't say it's their best album because people have different views on different ones (like most bands) but it's definitely up there with their best.

Album Rating: 4.0

step by step:

1 - 10 in german is «tzien» (this is the pronounciation not the actual word)

2 - a friend of mine says she has a version of «Sonne» with the lyrics changed into «Hitler»...so much for not being nazis :P

good review, but this one deserves a higher rating... still, you get a thumb :thumb:
