Doesn't compare to their self-titled, and I haven't listened very intently to Vol. 3. But from what i've heard of that...this is their weakest album.

Iowa has some sprinkles of originality, but they more or less repackaged most of their material from Slipknot. Even though it's harder than the first album, and despite its powerful moments, I have to say I think it's their worst album. I can't forget how much I used to love it, though. Iowa was the one true voice for my teen angst. Songs like People = Shit and Surfacing have incredible power over me.

People = shit and surfacing (which is off of their s/t if i'm not mistaken) are quality tunes. It just seems to me like they took the s/t disc and just tried to go more a little more over the top with the depression/shock value. I hate it when bands just rehash their big break album. This isn't bad tho...just not very original.

^^Therefore, buying Iowa first would be a good idea, unless you're shocked easily by hard music. After that, it would be a real treat to get Slipknot s/t, because it is better in pretty much all aspects.

Joey seems pretty good, and not a bad guy either.
Slipknot really don't appeal to me. This is pressing an attacking bull's bloody thoughts onto a compact disk...ouch. Except in some places. Its good in some spots. Otherwise, I really can't do it...And I like heavy music. Early Slip and parts of this seems like anger cacaphony to me though

The song Iowa would have been sooo much better without all the noncense they threw into it. Good song but too much filler/wanna be psycho sounding bs halfway through it.
