I listened to about half of this last night and had to shut it off. Way too gay, way too predictable. I realize they are ok guitarists but they didn't come up with one original riff from the 5 songs I heard.

Haha.

My mindset when I went to listen to this was not expecting anything really extraordinary. I realized the guitars weren't going to bring anything new to the table, but I gave it a 3.5 because it was really fun to listen to.

I was going back and forth as well on to what to give it. I said to myself while typing this that it's definitely going to be a 3. But then, I listened to Take It Out On Me again, and had to bump it to a 3.5

Yes, I listen to the album while I am typing out my reviews.

Doesn't everybody do that? I know I do, hell, it's all I listen to while writing reviews.

oh, lol. I didn't know if others did that or not. The only review where I didn't listen to the songs while writing was my Godsmack review.

His vocals on that title track are abominable.

So, I finally got a chance to listen to this album. Let's just say, it's exactly what I expected.... not waht I wanted, but simply expected. The poison was an album that I really got into even though everytime i sang along I was in a constant battle with myself for actually digging what bordered on poseur. That said, I was very anxiously awaiting this new album until i started listening to some of the b-side stuff that had leaked to the net. That alone was indicative of the fact that BFMV tend to release things that they should have simply scrapped. This probably stems from being new to the scene and not as mature (musically) as some of the other artists with more albums under their belts. The vocals on this album are somewhat due to the fact that Matt has been consulting a doctor who probably told him to mellow out a bit. Too bad cus i really liked his screams. Not sure he even screamed once this entire album. (screams are there, just not his) The guitar work is certainly faster but ripped off from other bands - and what happened to all the artificial harmonic squeals of death!! ;) As a whole, in my opinion, this album is nothing short of underwhelming. Partly because i expected it. Now i have to find something else that the girlfriend will be able to tolerate while riding in my car. Too bad she can't get into "An ocean between us" hehehe ;)

Sounds like she has better taste in music than you do.

lol wizard. You dry, witty cynic

I'm going to steer well clear of this. Put it this way; of the albums out tomorrow, Fortress is of a lot greater interest to me.

Put simply, if I ever see BFMV in person, I'll scream, aim and fire at them myself.

the_wizard: Actually, after reading your profile, seems you and I have very similar taste in music. Too bad you didn't get into As I Lay Dying's latest. But I guess we can't all enjoy the same type of stuff. This Message Edited On 01.28.08

Love Bullet and im really liking this album. At first i was bummed that it was supposed to be "heavier" and yet to me most of the songs are a lot softer and less screamy then what was on The Poison but after listening to this a number of times ive come to accept that and like what im hearing. At least there songs are still catchy as hell.

Although thats not what he was trying to say that pretty much describes how i felt about the title track (which is the only one i've heard)

Well, the rest is hardly better.

And I was hoping they'd redeem themselves after the mediocrity that was The Poison.
