Some of the songs (on the first CD) definitely sound dated, or just under-produced, but then again, so does a lot of really good metal. Doesn't stop it (usually) from kicking ass

Crimson II ftw.
The first minute and 10 seconds of Face of Face is the best part on the whole song.

Yeah, I just finished listening to Crimson II, flippin amazing. It's tough to decide between the 2 Crimson's but I'd have to give a slight edge to II cause I like the way it flows and the overall clean sound of it. Hard to describe but it just sounds like a slightly more energetic and exciting version of Crimson. Only slightly. They're both extremely spectacularific.

My favourite is Crimson I hands down, but yea, Crimson II has some golden moments also.

Face To Face.

I honestly don't like the Crimson's as much as I do the first disc. I've listened to Crimson I twice and Crimson II twice, and they're good, but I get bored midway through. The actual songs have more variety.

^^^Word, 40 minute songs certainly have that potential lol

Alright, put this on my i-tunes, adding up to exactly 3900 songs on my i-tunes, how classy. I'm excited to dig in.
|
| |
So, how does Crimson I and II fit on one disc, despite being 83 minutes combined?
|
| |
they're a little shorter than normal. not sure what EoS did in order to shorten them, they're still the same song, but the track lengths are shorter.

Legendary.

Does anyone know where I can get this? Like store wise?
I've never heard of this band until today but they sound amazing.

Disc 2 is amazing, I love the two crimson tracks, however, disc 1 at the beginning sometimes drags :/ It gets better as it goes alongThis Message Edited On 06.17.08

The only time when Crimson I drags is when Akerfeldt enters with his stuff.

Don't think so, cuz else it wouldn't be so diverse
I actually think Ã…kerfeldt did an excellent job on the lead guitar as well as the additional clean and harsh vocal parts. Now I don't know what the chorus on this monster is but at the end of the last part w/ clean guitars and vocals this one scream that Ã…kerfeldt does is just insane. Intense stuff.

AKERFELDT DID NONE OF THE CLEAN VOCALS.
sorry, it just annoys me when people say he does when I'm pretty sure it would have mentioned it in the booklet if he did. I can't believe that people think Crimson drags when Akerfeldt comes in, most epic part of the song is the 'offspring of the unholy... GODS!!!!' bit.

Not to be rude but I mean seriously listen to the slow doomy section near the end and tell me that isn't him on vocals... Sounds like his voice as it was on the early Opeth records.
Wiki isn't 100% reliable btw ;)

It's not him.
There.
and I did listen, seriously, I've heard enough of Swano to know his range, it does actually sound like his voice imo. I'll need to try and figure out for definite sometime, but I doubt I'll get to ask either of them any time soon unfortunately.
I also don't know what you're talking about with wiki, that's not what i'm basing anything on, i have the booklet, and it mentions who plays every lead and also when akerfeldt's vocals come in, so it would probably mention if he did any cleans.
oh, and you should know i'm very pedantic when it comes down to edge of sanity. This Message Edited On 07.27.08

neither of the Crimson's drag
JEEZE!
|
| |
ok im really stoked to buy this now, i love progressive metal more than anything and Dan Swano's solo work is great.. so i figure this will be perfect for me
and dont worry i love Melodeath
BUT why are the crimsons cut down? if they're slightly radio edited i will not be happy, its almost a turnoff completely even though its only about 2 minutes.
