I can't stand this album nearly as much as her other two. While I adore Ys and really like Have One on Me, the real shitty point here is the vocals. I think when people say Newsom's vocals are irritating, they're probably referring to a song from this album. While the vocals on the other albums are already an acquired taste, they just sound fucking obnoxious here.

possibly cos of the shorter song lengths, but out of her three LPs her vocals are most off-putting on this and her songwriting/lyrics improved later. if you dig Vashti you'll probably find something to like. Ys is pretty mindblowing
she was fucking amazing live and i hope she drops something new this year.

might wanna ease into her discography with the Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street Band EP, it's got the shorter song lengths and you couldn't possibly find her vocals off-putting on that one
