Not that I usually stick my nose in someone elses affairs, but Iluvatars taste in music has nothing to do with him reviewing this album as piece of shit. I would rather hear a review from someone with a broad range of music styles rather than hear some purist, ignorant fanboy rant about how good a band is. He thought the album was shite, so leave it at that. If you don't like it, lets see you pump out your first review!

This was a fun review to read, really nice work. Im so dissapointed with this new turn that A7X has taken. They used to be my favorite band... Synyster is seriously an incredible guitarist and writer - Waking the Fallen proves that. I'll buy this just to hear it for myself, but im not expecting anything special at all.

What are you guys even arguing about? I see no bias in the review. Sure it wasn't a very insightful or deep review but I didn't feel as if there were too many comparison to CoE. I might have discussed things from a more album-based perspective rather than each individual member's performance but there was no bias.

ehhh... this band has just gone to shit all around. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet was good, Waking the Fallen was good, City of Evil lacked from the other two... but was tolerable in moderation... and this just sounds like complete trash.

Man, A7X was one of my top 3 favorite bands until yesterday, when I heard this album. I can't believe how shitty this was... I have been looking forward to it since they announced a new album like a fucking year ago. The entire fuckin cd had only one decent song...Lost I think was the name...but seriously...I am fucking pissed off at how awful this album is.

I'll probably agree with Chan's review as I find this is a 3/3.5 as well. I don't really see why you said they recycled riffs from the last album, as the guitarwork/songwriting on here is generally a lot more straightforward. I can see where your comparison of the lead work comes from though, could use a bit more variation.

This album is just generic mostly.
Still, I would say this is better than STST.

after listening to some of critical acclaim and almost easy, i can already state this is probably better than City of Evil.

But i find City of Evil to be a righteously bad album.

Honestly it couldn't be that bad. I've heard from other sources that its actually quite a good album. But I dunno, guess I'll have to see. I still intend to buy this album when it comes out. Speaking of which, how come there are reviews for this when its not even out yet? Or is it out? I mean, I know there were leaks, but seriously, you could at least pretend that you didn't download the leak. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be a bomb of St. Anger sized proportions. I've learned not to trust anyone's opinion but my own up to this point (although I realize now that I should have trusted people when they told me Decemberunderground sucked ass).
