I don't mind that there is no standout track, nor do I think your point is valid. I think the reason I love The Bends and OK Computer so much is because every song on both albums is amazing, there's no standouts, they're all amazing. Same with this album. Very good review though, definitely totally agree about the minimalism and as I mentioned before, huge The Eraser influence.

has anyone heard anything off the bonus disc?

Most albums on this site barely ever reach that, never mind an album that's been released for about three days. : [

Pretty good album so far, reminds me more of Thom's solo stuff, but I'm still on my first spin. But I wanted to ask, is this the first of two disks, I've been reading that this is only half of the album, of so when will the other half be release, Dec. 3?

Really enjoying this so far. I'm surprised how fast it goes by and not in a too-short way. It keeps a nice pace. This Message Edited On 10.12.07

Yeah, this album goes by quickly. I guess it is kind of short though.
Will rate tomorrow.

Hrm. I'm only on my first listen, though I really can't decide between whether I would rather call this "dark" or "mellow." For some reason, I'm getting a slightly ambiguous feeling from the album. I'll try listening again some more times after sleeping on it, and hopefully by then I'll be able to rate it happily.

Neither dark nor mellow is the best descriptor. Neither really fits.

Just to refute those who say a 5 rating (was 4.5) was invalid on the first day, I would like to point out that I think rating music on much other than how it effects you is masturbation. Nothing like sitting at a 3.5 waiting to see what the other hipster douchebags have to say, right? I'm sorry, but if I listen to an album and then want to listen to it again, and then again, and again, and again for the next two days... well, in that rare occasion I say five.

I finally registered on radiohead.com and downloaded this today. Most of the songs on this are just average, imho, with the exception of Weird Fishes, Nude and Videotape. The album flows quite well though.

Not sure I completely agree with previous standout tracks... Bends for me is Just... OK Computer for me is Let Down... Kid A is definitely How to Disappear Completely... and as for this album, I was waiting for it to be a flop, mainly just because of the whole need for a big publicity stunt to sell it.
But Jebus, if it ain't something really quite great. Standout for me is completely torn between Videotape and All I Need. But really, at the moment for me, not as a song I wouldn't give my undivided attention. Good review too.

Excellent review by FlawedPerfection. I think his use of the english language to describe the sonic quality of this album was eloquently used.
I originally thought that "Videotape" was going to be my favorite track after listening to the live version, but when I realized there wasn't going to be a build up like in the live version, it kind of let me down. But that's what I get for having expectations.
Since I started reading about audio engineering (mixing), I have come to appreciate a new dimension in music. I think the engineering on the entire album was done very well. I haven't read the other reviews, so I'm not sure if someone has already commented on this, but the album is drenched in reverb, but in a good way that doesn't get tiring.
I am really digging "All I Need" and "Jigsaw Falling into Place". I think the guitar work on "Jigsaw" is amazing!

Liking this, but not quite as much as other Radiohead albums I've heard except for Pablo (haven't heard HttT and Amnesiac yet).
