"I don't like this whole 'you have to listen to it a lot for it to grow on you' thing, how many times do you need to listen to it? Because I've listened to this album all the way through at least ten times, and it's been no different each time. And frankly, I can listen to better albums without so much effort"
Ya know, I don't much care for Opeth, but whenever I say so (particularly about Blackwater Park), this seems to be what people tell me (to give it a bunch of intensive listens). I think there's some validity to that. I've come to much greater appreciation of bands like Tool, Dark Tranquillity and Moonsorrow with multiple listens, but every time I listen to Opeth, I get the same feeling. That being the feeling of "meh".
Really it all comes down to personal taste and what sounds good to your own ears anyway. I love this album. This Message Edited On 01.09.08

The more you listen, the more detail you uncover. Usually this means that your appreciation of the album goes up, even if it only goes from 1 to 1.5. Opeth is certainly a grower, and this really isn't imo.
