You're absolutely right, that is just you.
I saw Annete trying to sing Nemo and Dark Chest Of Wonders off of youtube.
That's some fucked up shit. Ridiculous. Tarja needs to smack her.

This is my favorite thing they've done yet. The change was necisarry as the band had been doing the same stuff for a while and it was getting tired.

I might be pushing it, but I'ld like to know if there is Nightwish that is similar to Sonata Arctica's Winterheart's Guild or Reckoning Night... i don't need clones, just Nightwish similar to that type of stuff.
Sonata is my fav Power Metal band (thank you for that Altmer) and when I first downloaded songs from Nightwish I found them a little boring (kind of a 3/5 thing). I didn't like the opera/orchesta flamboyant type stuff. However, there where other stuff that i did like and then after listening and really liking Amaranth I still have hope that I can like something by this band. This Message Edited On 10.18.07

Nightwish always has had the opera vocals, but their earlier stuff (Oceanborn era) is more power metal. I'd look into their debut, Oceanborn or maybe Wishmaster. But they've always had the symphonic edge.

You know, I have some from different albums and Oceanborn was the one I liked the most.

Seven Days to the Wolves is epic as fuck. Too bad you didn't like Colors, or else I would have actually paid attention to this review.

I think it is impossible to hate anyone over the internet. Seriously though, this cd is one of the most epic things I have ever heard. Meadows of Heaven is a good album closer too.

Its amazing how Poet and the Pendulum being 14 min long seems shorter to be than 9 minutes songs I've listen too. It is just incredibly well done.
Btw, does anyone else think that Bye Bye Beautiful would make a great single?
Its amazing how much I'm digging this album. I minght lose my mind and give this a 4.5. Amaranth rules my world right now. This Message Edited On 10.23.07

Its been 22 days and this album is still stuck on me. Its like a fucking leech I try to get it off me but it keeps sucking me in.
Deserves the 4.5.
Have to note that the "Hello, how are you?" line in Master Passion Greed makes me want to slap someone.
At the moment, For the Heart I Once Had owns my soul.

Meh altmer, I almost always agree with you (except on colors haha). This isn't my favorite nightwish cd, but its solid nevertheless. good review as always.

Im really liking this album now, so I read up on why you think this is a 5. I simply cant stand Master Passion Greed, Sahara gets too long and boring, and Whoever Brings the Night had potential, but was ruined by the vocals in my opinion. Everything else is strong as hell though, For The Heart I Once Had is one of my favorite ballads.

The Poet and the Pendulum is still their best song though ;)

I agree. i Really enjoy Annete's vocal performance on that song. I'm still curious to hear how Tarja would have fared on it, something tells me it wouldn't have fit at all with her colder tone.
