this is a very impersonal album compared to their first 3 by the way...very contained, kind of frantic.

muse can blow me, along with their new album

Last time I saw BTBAM they played about 9 songs, one of which was Sun of Nothing. It was minimum 45 minutes but felt way longer (because they're very, very lifeless).

dude I don't even think it's a banjo...I think he just plays guitar like a wizard

The 'country' part makes me want to die a little. These dudes are such wieners. They're probably snorting between bible studies about how quirky it is.

Agreed. The little Mr. Bungle part i could deal with. The polka i could deal with. But that line dancing southern country shit was just lame.

wasn't tommy a hair specialist at some homo saloon at one point?
...I'm pretty sure

take it to the chorus.

the ants of the sky lead really is pretty triumphant, the part where tommy's clean vocals overlap the chugging riff in Sun of Nothing is great...the melodic solo is great...the happy part is pretty gaay...everytime.
the bass at 9:22 on White Walls is ggggreat! just like frosted flakes

take it the bridge? can I take it to the bridge? GET ON UP!

That song has such a killer intro. And of course the quirky parts in it are hilarious.

I love this album. I can listen to it from start to finish and not even come close to getting bored. I love their other albums as well, and yes the really heavy breakdowns are pretty similar to the other albums. For me its still a really amazing album. Probably my favorite by them.

The impression I'm getting from what people are saying about this album is that it's really good with each band member playing some amazing stuff, but it could have been a lot of better if they were more serious and stopped trying too hard to be quirky.
Is that correct?

This album is amazing, I love how it's one huge song

yeah, thats not too far off...when I first heard it and didn't really think it was on par, I had to ask myself if it was a lack of skill/creativity/enjoyability on their part, or me not having an ear for the sound they're trying to get across on this album.
They have some great ideas, but alot of stuff just kind of sounds like afterthought filler...quirky, yes...good yes...enjoyable? mmm depends on you and the mood you're in really...Alaska I think is their masterpiece...this is more truely a concept album...and in that sense it really is great since they do have the talent to back up their better ideas.
tip #1: don't listen to this album sober if you can help it.
tip #2: pretend this is the first time you've heard this band.
tip #3: Make sure you have a great lower end soundsystem or you'll be missing out on the best part of the cd.
this cd has my blessing. Alaska has my sooullll though

This thing is terrible.
The thing about BTBAM is they are either playing something awesome or playing something so bad it is ridiculous. This album is a perfect example of how good this band could be and also how bad their ideas truly are.
I guess Glass Casket is for me.
