HORSE is anything BUT boring.

^^
agreed. i'm going to pick up this album regardless. though i still can't find a copy of r. borlax anywhere
|

I'm really digging "Face Of Bear" and "The Red Tornado," so I'm obligated to look into more of it. I really enjoyed R. Borlax and Hand, so I might as well. Good review.

They had R. Borlax at Tower Records back in the day. It was pretty popular.

Yeah i went there a while back and looked for it but all they had was The Mechanical Hand. I wish I could find it, I'm in love with Bunnies, Pol's Voice, and Purple, as well as some other tracks. :D

Bonus are Kangarooster and something else right? I want them.

While I enjoy lots of individual songs of them, I never can fully listen through to a whole album of theirs except for sometimes R. Borlax. But I guess I'll get this just for some individual songs.

What?! It was reissued? I just ordered me a copy of the old one like a week ago. It should be in any day now.
Anyways, I don't have this one yet. I've heard three songs. I like New York City or whatever, murders okay, but I just can't get down with sex raptor. Edit: I just heard The Red Tornado, sooo sick. I gotta get this. This Message Edited On 08.28.07

Trust me, this album is worth it. If you're expecting a typical HORSE record this isn't it. As a standalone effort, however, it's easily worth a 3.5-4. It's way deeper musically and not as immature (although it still is an always will be there), and it seems to be more of a show of technicality at times and not as immediately gratifying, melodically, as The Mechanical Hand. Give it a chance though, it grows with time.

Oh yeah and just to clarify Nick, the album has a different tracklisting than the leaked version - "Broken Trails" is track 9 on the final CD ("Crow Town" is apparently a bonus track now), and the Best Buy version I got has three bonus tracks - MIDI versions of "Hyperborea" and "Treasure Train", and "Crow Town" for a total of 19 tracks. Apparently other versions of the album have different b-side extras depending on where you get them, a'la Zeitgeist.
