I honestly believe that a lot of people who like the mainstream crap would change their whole perspective (i.e. realize how terrible "radio rock" is and listen to quality stuff)on music if they knew about the more talented, yet less known bands.

I am a prime example of that.

So, we're more informed and musically smarter than regular people?

I highly doubt that. Look, my musical taste hasn't changed much since I joined, with the exception of a few new undiscovered bands on my back. I still enjoy 'hard' and 'mainstream' rock.

Maybe my musical taste is crap, but I don't even believe in musical taste. No such thing, its what you choose to like. For example, its engraved in my head that Cake sucks and anything by Radiohead other than OK Computer and Kid A sucks. My dad has it engraved in his head that the Red Hot Chili Peppers suck, but can't prove why.

There is no such thing as musical taste. If you've grown up listening to rock, your parents hate anything other than rock, most likely you'll single out music other than rock. That's the reason some people can't see past Hip-Hop as well.

System of a Down is pure thrash, spastic, and random.

Wow, I feel insulted.

Oh man, I'm loving this.

We could all argue with Tribestros that what we listen to is quality and what he listens to is crap just as he could argue the opposite.

I think the most frustrating thing about "our" music is that it isn't as popular or respected as it should be. It's frustrating that every time one of the mainstream bands is putting out a new album, it's all over the place, complete with posters in the windows and hundreds of copies on the front shelves at your local record store. Where as we'll be lucky if we can even find the latest material from one of our favorite bands in stores. No one can deny the fact that there are many bands that have way more talent (whether they sound good or not is purely opinion) than ANY of the mainstream bands period.

I agree with you, though I'm still going to have trouble sleeping tonight. :/

DAMN. You got me, Grant, red-handed. I had it going well up until now. You see, I knew I could convince a college student to go out with a high school senior regardless of geographical location, conflict of interests, AGE, etc.

I know it's so typical of you older people to pick on the teenagers so you can watch them get mad and take it personally. It might have worked on me three years ago. Good try though.

Thanks for the linkage, really appreciate it. Just some decompression and I'll be jammin.

Age is irrelevant when college vs. high school is involved. Once your not living with mom and/or dad anymore, you're old to me (lucky, too, in a way).

Nah, he's 17 man. Born 5/18/90...
Then again I'm god-awful at math so there's room for error.
