As it should. And every time I think about changing my rating, I listen to the album again.

ZooYorker6,
I honestly thought you were hyping this album up. My apologies for not fully believing that this album was a step up from most thrash bands today. This album is mind blowing in terms of thrash metal/ death metal. I have been proven wrong and will continue giving this album a good, thorough listen. My rating has gone up!

It's cool. I figured you'd come to appreciate the album at some point. It would have been a little better if they included more acoustic tracks to show off more diversity, though (like Crysis said in his review). I'll have to suggest it to Peter for their next album when I get the chance. This Message Edited On 10.03.07

"Dead and Gone" at 2:54 is really awesome. It reminds me alot of an Amon Amarth riff too.

Amon Amarth and these guys have similarities but are both good for their own reasons.
SOH,
Im surprised you don't like this album more than a 3.5. There is some great thrash on this album.

I had it at a 4 for awhile, but I re-listened to it the other day and found it a bit dull at points.

This album deserves nothing more.

This album has had about 4 runs through my cd player in the last 2 days. Still just as good as before! Some of the stuff on it is a bit dull I agree (a little recycled). This Message Edited On 10.04.07

Even with some riff circulation, I'm still not sick of this album. If anyone gives this a 3 or lower, they die.
Only The Absence is better.
Hard to say, primarily because they're too different.

I was just commenting on the riff, which sounds alot like something they'd play. It's a killer riff too.

Fuck yeah it does. If you can't bang your head to that, you can't to anything.

I finally got this album and am pretty dissapointed. I find it pretty boring.

I am inclined to ask what, specifically, from this album fails to hold your attention.

I think this album is pretty good but get old real quick. There's too much repetition. The musicianship is pretty awesome anyway.

Aren't all thrash albums a bit repeditive though?

Depends... If you take slayer for example
Reign in Blood is pretty repetitive.
Seasons in the abyss isn not at all

If, you take into consideration that The Absence combines Gothenburg-ish melo death with thrash, it could be considered a recipe for repetition.
I, myself, do not tire of this album. Every song has at least 71 plays on my iTunes.

I can guarantee you there are alot of repeditive riffs on Seasons as well (seeing as thats my favourite Slayer album). Your right in saying its their most diverse, but its still repeditive as balls in terms of sticking to the thrash genre.
Zoo, this isnt as repeditive as Slayer at least! This Message Edited On 12.20.07

I think this album could have been better if it was shorter. The first 5 songs are amazing. After that it get long. Good band anyway.
