Almost all music has some element of pop, but it's so integrated into the bigger picture that no one would ever refer to the pop aspect as a separate entity. I think this band and most Brand New would both fit into that description.

early brand new and this sounds like a somewhat more alt rocky blink-182-type band to me though maybe we have different ears

Brand New's debut album definitely has a lot of pop punk in it, but they evolved into something bigger by Deja Entendu.

This album has a few pop punk-style moments, but they're rare and definitely aren't what defines this album. If this album had to be categorized, I'd say alt. rock is a good general place for it.

alt rock is such a vague genre though this sounds like pop punk arggggggg have you even heard single god damn it

if a bunch of these songs were played by blink-182 or sum 41 or one of those faggy number bands they would not seem out of place on one of their records BUT it's not like my opinion matters anyway so fuck it

this album is good

I know alt. rock is a vague genre, that's why I used it ;)

Ha ha, I've heard this album tons of times (if I hadn't reset my last.fm account a few months ago this band would still be near the top of my most played list).

"Single" is definitely the most pop punk of the album, but it's not representative of the album as a whole. I also don't think that the last Blink-182 album could really be considered pop punk either

No one's opinion matters, ha ha, we're just discussing semantics.

ugh I had the whole pop-punk argument yesterday... and I think this is pretty obvious pop-punk along with Deja Entendu but whatever. I honestly don't understand the negative backlash against calling those pop-punk. I mean people were complaining cause I called Saves the Day and Say Anything pop-punk and it's just like wtf, bands other than Blink can be pop-punk too you know

There are plenty of bands that I consider pop punk, and I like the genre overall. Blink182, The Starting Line, Yellowcard, Autopilot Off, Green Day, New Found Glory... All good bands and all pop punk.

I haven't heard Saves the Day or Say Anything so I can't comment on them. I will say that (IMO) this album and most Brand New is obviously not pop punk ;)

This is seriously so good. Going to have to bump the rating.

Maybe we can save the argument, and call it Alternative-punk-pop-rock. Or something.
