So, you named yourself after a dude you only own three albums from. That's pretty gay, if I may say so myself.

There was no need to neg the review just because you disagree, man. The question is "Was this review WELL WRITTEN," not "do you agree with this review?"
Listen to more of his music and maybe you'll see that this is very derivative of everything he's done in the past, and the real "brilliance" was in those CDs and not this cop-out of a release.

Devin Townsend has done better from what I heard off this album.

you people take this album way too seriously. if you think its horrible, you should hear half of the other shit out there these days. its not meant as a true devin townsend album(notice the lack of the word "band" after his name on the cover, back before accelerated evolution in 2003, he changed the band name from devin townsend to devin townsend band. its just a little "here ya go, some humorous stuff to chew on". yet some of you treat it like its supposed to be serious business. its a single man produced album made on a computer as a joke, apparently, none of you got it. learn to take a joke.
|
| |
so it's a shitty joke album instead of a shitty serious album, who cares. it's still shitty.

Ok, the album being a joke is not an excuse for downright lousy music. On top of that, I got the joke just fine, it's just that 8 year old humor doesn't exactly interest me.

wow i can tell from teh album cover that this has gotta be shit

FETTED!!! they hide there finest bean!!! The funniest line ive heard on record for a long while.
This album had me in stitches it reminds me of when me n my bro use to make joke radio shows as kids. I dont own any devin townsend releases but i listened to this and checked out syl and ive gotta say i love how Devin doesnt take himself seriously. And to Kage, chill devin obviously didnt intend for this to be a good ablum more of a joke. The music might not be the most technical or groundbreaking but im sure mr townsend wasnt even thinking of making with those words in mind.
Very subjective review i really fealt from reading this you where out to put the new album down. and im looking forward to hearing his serious work. It was well written though.

This album is criminally underrate here. Great guitar work (as expected), and plus this is album is PURELY Devin Townsend. He proclaimed ziltoid as his alterego for christ sakes. But that aside, i really enjoy this, although not as much as synchestra

so it's a shitty joke album instead of a shitty serious album, who cares. it's still shitty. That deserves an 'Owned' statement!
I'm just listening through this for the first time (my first experience with any of Devins work in fact) and I actually quite like it, sure, it's pretty bad in places, but I think the good out-weighs the bad.

What do his earlier works sound like? Please don't say better than this :p
If it's anything like 'Hyperdrive' I want to hear it, that song is amazing.

Pick up Accelerated Evolution, Ocean Machine, or Terria, those are all incredible albums.

Your music taste, crap grammar and the fact that all your comments are laughable make your opinion void. Sorry.

I think this is a little harsh. None of the songs are up to the standard of, say, Skeksis or The Truth, but there's some solid material on here. The harmonics riff in Hyperdrive is worth a mention.
It certainly doesn't deserve a 1.
