I have the vinyl, but I really should get the cd version. Is it digitally remastered? Oh and the "If you hear this whisper you're dying" thing IS real.

Yeah, and it's quite freaky too.... and yes they do have multiple remastered versions out now.
Favorite songs on this masterpeice of a disk are: Breath, which I think is totally underrated and overlooked on the count of how short it is. Then there's the classics like Time, TGGITS, Money, and then there's Us & Them which is my absolute favorite on the disk, because it's so dang emotional and creative, and also I like Brain Damage and Any Colour You Like (One of the best instrumentals ever.). This CD is almost perfect, who cares if its the most popular, it's still Pink Floyd music on a very very high level.

I've heard it before, and likely would have bought it if it weren't $18.99. "Wish You Were Here" and "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" are three of the best tracks ever. Yes, I said three, because the latter has two parts, both of which rule... anyway, yeah, you're right :thumb:

You have to listen to DSOTM without any prejudice. Just open up and let yourself go, and then you wil see what everyone is raving about. Don't steriotype, don't look for reasons not to like it, just LISTEN. There's a reason that this album was on the Billboard charts for over 10 years.

In The Great Gig In The Sky at about the 3:34 in the song, it's only creepy if you dont expect it coming cause it just jumps out at you.

Lordy.
I brought my dad this album on CD for Xmas (He has the vinyl, but you can't play that in the car now can you?) and I just listened to it today.
My god! I'd heard snippets before but as a whole, this album is incredible. The whole range of emotions is in there and it inspired me, especially that insane vocal on great gig in the sky! My word! And the solo on track 3!!!
Brilliant, brilliant album!

Track 3 would be "Time" one of there better known songs.

Regardless of what anyone says, DSOTM is 1 of the greatest albums of all time, it's a scientific fact haha. Not the best Floyd album, but it further exceeds 99% of every other cd out there.

OK. You call it the best album ever then you go on to say that it's not the best Floyd album.
Make up your mind.

I simply love it. I can see the point of some people who think it's overrated. But when I first listened to it it didn't know it/Floyd at all. Some 15+ years ago when I was like 16 or 17 a friend of mine was playing Echoes. That song made a big impression on me (still one of my favs) and he lend me Meddle and DSOTM. I put on DSOTM the first time without really knowing what to expect and it totally, well not blew me away, but dragged me in. Sucked me in really. Simply amazing. I still think it is. I have to admit there are other Floyd albums I listen to more regularly (WYWH, Meddle and Live in Pompeii), but this album is, in my opionion, simply amazing. My fav tracks are the last three; Any Colour You Like/Brain Damage/Eclipse, but I usually listen to the whole album in one go.
As far as a Great Gig is concerned; try the live version on Delicate Sound of Thunder. With three voices it's even better..

its the best album ever, bar none
that is why it was in the billboard charts longer than any other album in history.
go and buy it, then sit in a dark room and close your eyes and listen to it, and maybe you will understand what everyone is on about
it is a masterpiece

I do not think that you can define the greatest album in the world. Nor for that matter the greatest Floyd album. For me, it completely depends on what mood I'm in. If I'm feeling a bit insane (as I so regularly do) I'll reach for Dark Side or The Wall. But if I'm in a bit more of a good mood, The Division Bell will satisfy.
And is Dark Side Of The Moon overrated because it has sold so much, or has it sold so much because it's overrated? Just a thought.

Wat the hell. Are those FOUR stars at the top right? This albumn is a five out of five no question.
In my opinion, one the best and arguably the most important album of all time.
Pink Floyd changed wat an album should be, not just a collection of songs but an 'album', if you know what I mean. So in that definition, this is my fave album. But not my fave record.
If you catch my drift.
