I read about these guys in Revolver 2 years back. One of the only good things that magazine did for me. Album is super duper. Neato gang.

I got used to the vocals fast on this album. But I agree, they were annoying at first
You probably don't like this because of the atmospheric details they through into their music. And I know you don't like bands like Isis and Neurosis (which these guys have similarities to). But how can you say there wasn't enough metal on this album? The metal on this album is blistering!

Whatever you consider blistering, this album has some fantastic 'fast' metal on it. And yes, it has lots of metalcore on it but not your typical run of the mill As I Lay Dying shitty metalcore. But if you didn't like their sound after 2 songs, you probably won't like much else on here because all of the songs have a similar sound running through them. Still, its worth your time to give them a chance.

The screaming does throw me off a little especially since the keyboard work is so beautiful, it seems to contrast it a little too much.
That being said, 3 tracks in and this is really REALLY good...

His scream is certainly unique; it's not that I dislike the style or tone of it, I just think it's mixed too far foward, a.k.a it's just too loud, it kind of lords over the fantastic music. I may just need more listens to get over/past is (I've played it through about 5 times), which would be a great feeling because the instrumentation alone is 4.3-ish.

Homebound has some of the most epic riffs at around 2:25 into the song.
Holy fuck this album just blows my mind everytime I listen to it. I can honestly say I've never heard something this unique in my life. Probably the most original metal record I've ever heard.

Jacktiger's music list lead me to this, I think the review was written well, it wanted me to listen to this.
I don't mind vocals at all, I can't see why people have to complain about them - I'm not saying they are good, just saying its not bad as everyone makes them out to be. Only heard the two tracks from this on their myspace, I think its amazing. Going to get the album.
