If you do that I will just laugh at your inevitable disappointment. Seriously man, it's bad. That is what everyone keeps saying... for some reason it only makes me more curious about it.

Never heard them... but I don't think I require another metalcore CD in my collection any time soon.

They're not metalcore dude. There's just as much of a broadway influence as their is a hardcore one, hah. Hardcore's there but yeah no not metalcore. Irrelevant though.

ha ha, ok. Like I said, I've never heard PTH... I read what type of music they play directly from Sputnik's description of them on their band page which starts with: Formed in 1999 as Happy go Lucky, Protest the Hero is a Canadian Metal/Metalcore band from Whitby, Ontario . Yeah, something like that. PTH are hardly metalcore at all.
On topic, this CD owns. The first track is really epic.

My favourites would definitely have to be ...And the Mirror Cracked and The Sleep of Restless Hours. Regardless, this album is amazing.

This album is pretty incredible. ...And The Mirror Cracked is my favourite. Think I'll avoid their follow-up though considering how many are saying that Gloria is vastly inferior to this.

The key word being 'vastly' there.

And the Mirrow Cracked and the title track are sooo great. Then again, so is the rest of the album

And the Mirror Cracked and the two tracks over 10 minutes are easily the highlights of the disk. They make the other tracks not seem as good as they really are.

It's scary how good this album is. What little play this got is hyped up the side of mount everest, so I was expecting it not to live up to it. I think I must fall silent now...

There is something very enchanting about this album. The interspersed piano sections are very elegant - I really do love them.
Opening track is simply mindblowing.

^^^Agree, it really pulls you in right off the bat, and does so rather effortlessly. It's actually the closer that made me give this a 4.5 (as opposed to a 4). I really love and admire when a band can jam for 15-20 minutes and make a well-structured, intelligently progressed, and all around awesome song that stays interesting throughout. Not counting the insane-lengthed double-track feature of Moonsorrow's Havitetty, The Sleep of Restless Hours is EASILY the best "super-long" metal song I've ever heard.

It's one of my fave lengthy songs, sat alongside Anesthetize and Black Rose Immortal.
