Deathbringer from the Sky not being a highlight offends me.

After a giving this album my undivided attention twice, I can ssay that this is turning out to be a lot better than their self titled in my book. I dunno what it is.

^^^Honestly, the tracks I've heard from their self-titled, and from Iron sound almost exactly like Wintersun, only not as dynamic and powerful. This album has more of a unique feel to it, apparently because someone else had to write the songs once Jari was gone. I'm inclined to agree with you insofar as Wintersun did what Ensiferum's first two albums did, only better, whereas this album is doing something a little different.

Exactly how I feel too^^^!. They really stepped it up on this album, refined their sound a bit more (which is good depending on if you like maturity in your music or not). Every song is killer on this album. I think I was the only one to throw this on their top 10 for 2007.

^^^I'm with you wizard (as usual lol), this album really impressed me with just one listen, usually albums that grab my attention like that from one spin only get better over time (see Moonsorrow ;) ). These guys seem to have found a nice niche in that they're clearly viking metal at the core, but don't sound quite like any other viking metal I've heard (with this album).

The new Moonsorrow album gets at least a spin every three days on my computer (including today!). I dont usually listen to too much Viking metal because I don't know where to find it. The boards on here tell me nothing about the Viking metal thats out there.

I'm actually trying really hard to listen LESS to Havitetty so as not to murder it to the point where I don't wanna hear it anymore lol. This is the perfect substitute.

I really don't think I can murder that album hahahaha. I'm so borderline giving it a 5, not because it has sentimental value to me, but because its one of the best pieces of music I've heard in a long, long time! Its truly that great.

I find this album to be an extremely fun listen. Ahti owns this album hard. The bridge in that song just makes me want to drink and do a dance (what kind of a dance, I have no idea, some drunkin' Viking dance).

Please, give it that 5, it's needed to counteract that random 2.5 from someone who either didn't even actually listen to it, or for some inexplicable reasons feels that it's actually an average album. Sigh.

Yeah, Ahti is one of my favs too, along with Deathbringer, Raised by the Sword, and the title track.

And correction; some drunkin' Viking BATTLE dance lol.

I'm surprised you're having trouble finding any. Viking metal is one of the most overdone genres of metal, in my estimation. There's hundreds of bands out there.

Can I just say Deathbringer From The Sky is pretty much the greatest song i've ever heard and my new anthem.

lol yeah dude, awesome track. After quite a few listens though, the title track grew on me the most and became my favorite. I also realized that the soft tune from the intro song is used as the main sound for the title track. Cool beans.

Someone, somewhere may hate me for saying this, but I'd have to say Victory Songs tops Ensiferum's self-titled debut. I love the harmonic singing they've added to a some of the tracks (faves: "Raised by the Sword" and "Wanderer". Also, I could quite happily listen to "Ahti" over and over again without getting bored! I have rarely encountered such a catchy folk metal song as this, and the pace of the song is just perfect. All in all, this would have to be my favourite Folk/Viking metal album after "Sagas" by Equilibrium. This Message Edited On 02.07.09

I only really liked 3 tracks from this album, but the 3 good tracks (Wanderer, One More Magic Potion, Victory Song) were good enough to earn it a good rating.

This album is quite good considering the dramatic frontman change. I feared for the worst at first but was pleasently

suprised when the whole damn thing was gold. I think Victory Song would be my favorite if I had to choose.
