I saw them live this past week and their vocals haven't suffered noticeably. They play with surprising intensity and got me hooked on their sound... whether it's screamo, metalcore, or post-hardcore... it rocks.

oh my god, you are an idiot it would be so much easier for people to embrace things if you didn't do it in a complete asshat fashion.

I agree that this stands out. If I had to say a similar band, I'd say Alesana, not Underoath. But I like this better than Alesana.
Love this album.

let's just hope they stay a kick ass band and make another great album like this and not make it suck like most Screamo/Emo bands do.This Message Edited On 04.29.08

Wow, loling At Screamo Barbie, haha.
This Band OK Live, However, Their CD Gets Old Wayyy Too Fast.

i'm just surprised no one criticized Undead for saying:
Underoath is pretty much one of the first bands to create the alternating between singing and screaming, which A LOT of new bands take from
now that is an ignorant statement. they were far from "one of the first"

yer this album was off the chain

seems like most of you are ignorant genre nazis. This band is pretty unique in what they do. The vocals are excellent as is the guitar. It's not your typical depresso lyrics either. They actually mean somthing. This band has a future. epic lulz.

This is probably one of my favorite albums and I agree with the review entirely, but I think that Craig left some super huge shoes to fill. Plus, it's hard to find a frontman who will sacrifice his body off of a two or three story high jump. Every time I saw this band, I can always remember at least once going, "oh......thats high."

Too everyone giving this album above 2.5, give it time and you'll see how crap it is.
I use to like Hawthorne Heights, would defend em just like you guys, now with my age and expanding my music taste, I've come to see that they're generic shit.
I'm not trying to toot my own horn, just saying your taste will eventually mature and you'll "see the light".

Just a heads up, not everyone is you, and not everyone's music taste matures in the same fashion, so this may be something some people can enjoy for the rest of their lives. Just wanted to point out how weak of an 'argumentative statement' you made.

I just tried to make it insightful, we all love bands one day and hate them the next.
Unless I'm the only one with fickled music taste?
And I agree, there is some music that you can enjoy for the rest of your life but they tend to be more trend setting, rather then trendy.

As insightful as it is, I disagree with your statement.
Although I am tired of this album from listening to it for like a year, I have not begun to "see how crap it is"
To me this album has set a sort of benchmark to my own musical tastes. This band to me has its own sound, and thus will never comparable to any other band.
"So that means you are musically handicapped and you don't know anything about other types of music or other even other bands of similar genres LOLz OMG!!" No. No one, including even the people who like this band as much as me, will never understand how I appreciate music. The same goes for how others appreciate music.
