I'm going to have to check this album out. I was planning on buying it a long time ago...not sure what ever happened to that idea.

The songs are all too long, doesn't really change things up in that respect, but I love "Longest Day" and "These Colours Don't Run."

Can't believe I never rated this album, oh well. Just relistened to this and forgot how good it is, Brighter than a thousand suns is my favorite without a doubt.

this is their best album since powerslave. brighter than a thousand suns is my favourite

and TROBB isn't a ballad! it's one of the heaviest songs in the album

and the legacy is awsome

i think the riffs of this album are much better than dod riffs

BTATS, DW, LOL, TCDR and TROBB riffs are incredible

in dod only rainmaker and pashendale can be that good

It is the only Maiden album I never listen to (Well maybe together with most of Virtual XI and The X Factor). In my opinion it is way to repetitive and in that sense, unlike most of their other stuff.

Too bad, they were on the right track with DoD

I loved this album when it was first released, until I realized that after you give it some time off and come back to it, this album blends together and drags on for far too long. 9 out of the 10 songs are in E minor and either use the same tempo or similar chord progressions. Seriously?

This album is precisely where the band should have went right after '7th Son'. I know that this kinda jump would have been impossible, but still, I'd rather most of those recordings in between would just vanish.

I love the album and disagree with you, but this was definitely a well written review.

Okay review but I think album is nearly perfect.

I think the Longest day is as good as The Trooper. Both tell similar situations and both do it with very unique styles.
