Fiction will always top my list

This album's weird because on one hand you have songs like Hedon and Insanity's Crescendo, which are easily among Dark Tranquillity's best songs, and on the other end you have songs like Dreamlore Degenerate and Constant which are among the worst and most unmemorable. I've always been partial to Dissolution Factor Red though, of all the short "filler" songs here that one is easily the best.

Atom Heart 243.5 is a really good song too actually, no one seems to mention that one. Probably the best after Hedon and Insanity's Crescendo.

Digging: Amorphis - Elegy

The only DT album I like less than this is Projector, and maybe Haven. I've still yet to here all of Skydancer though.



It's still a great album it's just that after the near perfection of The Gallery is seems pretty lame for the most part. It's like a digression from that album really. Would've made much more sense if this came before The Gallery imo but nope.

Their newest has grown on me a whole lot, i'd definitely rank it in their top 5. The Gallery is easily my favorite but after that Character, Damage Done, Fiction, and now We Are the Void are pretty much all in contention for 2-5. This would be one of the few bands I have major trouble ranking haha.

We Are The Void is tied with Character for their second weakest in my books (Projector being their worst)..... and the lead in "Constant" is awesome IMO

I usually think of Character as my second favorite. There's a couple of weaker tracks but it has a good portion of DT's strongest material. Damage Done is the same way to a slightly weaker extent. The first 5 tracks are DT classics, then the middle is a bit more meh, then it picks it up right at the end. Fiction however, has no filler, but besides "Blind At Heart" no real stand outs. I'm finding We Are the Void to be the same. Besides "Iridium," there are no songs I'd consider real stand outs but there's no filler either, all of the songs are really good.



Fuck this band's consistency.

Fiction is too consistent to have stand outs haha. It's one of those albums that if I did a review i'd end up putting 7 or 8 of the tracks as recommended and then i'd just be like "fuck it."

Terminus and Mundane and the Magic have always been my two stand outs

I honestly can't pick out the weakest song on that album, I always feel bad when I rank it haha. The Mundane and the Magic is probably one of my least favorites honestly but it'd probably still make my top 20 DT songs. Shows how solid that album is.

my favourites off Fiction are The Mundane And The Magic, Misery's Crown and Terminus. All the songs have parts which make them stand out for me though, like the intro to Inside The Particle Storm
