Youve certainly stirred up some controversy around here! I guess your review is better than I originally thought because it provoked alot of DragonForce fans. I love reading the bickerings of people who get bitter at the fact that their opinions were disagreed with.
This is bullshit. I haven't heard the album, so I can't comment on the rating, but just because the guys can shred, it doesn't mean they can write a good song.
Well, even if they can't write a decent song, I haven't been able to rate anything a one that has at least some form of musical proficiency. Hell, I even gave Trivium (a band I despise) a 1.5 because they are at least somewhat capable of playing instruments. Its more a matter of opinion, but this band is fully capable of writing a song (even if it is the same basic idea rehashed 7 times).

Not to mention, that was kind of a dick way to present your point. Seriously now.

I actually think Sam is the better guitarist of the two. Herman is more proficient with the cool sound effects, but doesn't has the same soulful chops that Sam does.

I agree with this. Sam's not as sloppy, his solos don't re-use as much material as Herman's and he also does much more of the song writing than Herman. This Message Edited On 12.11.06

Hit the nail on the head with this one.

After hearing 1 song i was fairly impressed. After hearing the entire album and realizing how similiar EVERY song is constructed and sounds, i was pissed for even checking out to the album.

Terrible.

The fact that the solos are kick ass makes me not give this a -45810975934475 rating.

well im a guitarist and i would have to agree with what this cat said in his review. Ive only heard this album and maybe a handful or more off their other, but i couldnt come close to telling songs apart. I'll give it to those guys they can play the fuck out of they're guitars but when you see them do it live its doesnt look near as cool as the video makes it look...oh and while im talking about them live, herman may be self-taught and a "virtuoso" but he could practice a little more. there were quite a few times the solos would just end because of a wrong note, bad bend, etc. just something you wouldnt expect from someone of that caliber...ok so now ive lost my train of thought... anyways to conclude, Dragonforce is a very guitar-talented band with some very average vocals and drums...but i suppose as long as they keep putting the same chorus in every song they should be around a little longer

I find the drummer to be pretty good and I do like the vocals, though it's not hard understand why some people might not.

It's because your point was stupid . You shouldn't award anything for being able to play an instrument, if you don't feel that it accomplishes anything. If music sucks, it will still suck at x bpm.

Hmm...you must just happen to know some select people who don't like his vocals. Afterall I doubt Rush would have been around for this long if a vast majority of people didn't like his vocals.

I like Geddy's vocals as well. Is ZP Theart influenced by him at all? Because it does sound like it.

I think Theart wants to sounds more like ol' Brucey D. when he hits his higher notes. ^_^

I assumed all power metal bands kind of wanted to sound like Iron Maiden (not saying maiden is power metal but they are certainly a regular influence on the genre).

Anyone who spends more time trying to discover how to make "motor bike" noises rather than actually writing GOOD songs doesnt deserve respect in my eyes.

Other than speed what does dragonforce have? Jack. This band is as retarded as you are.
