So want to love this album but I couldn't help feel slightly disappointed (There are some gems but it doesn't scream classic Tom Waits to me, even if I take each disc separately)... and as the username suggests I am big Tom Waits fan. Maybe need to give this more time.

Tom Waits is such a beast. There will never be anyone like him.

'why would it be?'

because about half of the album is rare and unreleased songs rather than brand new stuff

Same, long overdue for a few relistens of his stuff.

I'll be honest, I'll probably won't have the guts to listen to this anytime soon.

But I will be jamming Small Change right now in honor of this random bump.

Aight doing this disc by disc and so far Brawlers is a solid 3.5 (also no fault of Tom’s but road to peace is kind of hard to listen to in the current context)

I love Road to Peace, for the time it's from it makes a lot of sense, but in modern context it doesn't "both sides" things little too much
