Eh, I feel it has more in common with their self-titled and White Pony than SNW. At least production and sound wise.
I never really felt reminded of SNW when listening to Ohms.
Killer album, though. Major improvement over Gore.

^White Pony and self-titled are also stellar albums, though, so i can't really complain even though SNW (and ATF to a degree) are the ultimate Deftones albums for me.

Riverie is such a sorrowful closer. I don't know many songs that just feel so defeated.

Couldn't handle the temptation and gave in... Ohms is not much different from Gore, tbh, but the production is a thousand times better plus I was able to hear some elements from self-titled (This Link Is Dead mostly) and Koi No Yokan (Headless, Error). Ceremony and Pompeji is what Gore should have sounded like pretty much.
Doesn't top SNW for me (my all time favorite) but it is, at least, as good as Koi No Yokan or self titled. Definitely better than Gore and Adrenaline. Will see if it grows.

guys reserve judgment until you hear the FLAC or at least 320kbps quality, the leaks you're hearing aren't optimal quality so we don't know what we're missing

I just can't see many similarities between both albums. They were both made and performed by the same band I guess?

no one should want it to sound like Gore, and no one should think it sounds like Gore based off what Chino and Carpenter have to say

It goes back and forth for me. It moves me like a 5, but the slight disjointedness has always had me teetering. Pink Cellphone I actually really dig musically but the end is still hard to get over.

"It's a completely different album lmao"
Many different elements, of course, so I probably should have not said that lol. But the choruses aren't as big as past releases, very much like Gore. Listen to Ceremony and tell me it couldn't fit anywhere there? Even Pompeji sounds like a retouched Gore track. People compared Gore to self titled a lot when it came out and I'm noticing the same thing happening with Ohms. The only difference is that it has some new energy to it in songs like Radiant City and Urantia and that it feels like a proper follow up to Koi No Yokan (Error and Headless are examples of that).
Definitely an improvement so don't get me wrong.
