"on a good day, Rush is the most average band of all time"
at least you used the word "band" correctly in context, so that's good, I guess.

Baby take my hand now, don't you cry
I won't let you stay here, I won't let you hide
No more tears, don't waste another day
Go on and fight, don't lay down to die
Come on get up, you'll make it through okay
Come on get up, don't waste another day

People can dismiss the album all they want (and I would definitely agree that at least the second half is relatively weak), but it's hard to call the band irrelevant if the album's still being talked about four months after its release. Maybe it would also be useful to think about what an album should really be like after a 13-year hibernation, and I think FI is actually a very honest depiction of that. You can't really expect anyone to come out of that kind of thing swinging for the fences, so it might be helpful to think of the album as a warmup, almost stretching their muscles before whatever comes next. Every song starts slow, and while they reach some impressive crescendos, none of them are as tight as anything from the first four albums. But it's still one of the hardest-hitting records of the year at the very least, and when I saw them in concert, it was easily one of the most earth-shaking experiences I've had in a long time. For anyone writing them off as has-beens, I think it might be a little premature to make that kind of judgment.

Thread staying strong, good work everyone.
Poor Darren just thrown headfirst on the field for Team Fanboy, but he's doing great.
