Fear Inoculum is easily the weakest track on the entire album.

The album's been out for 2 hours dude, chill the fuck out and listen to it some more. I was expecting to be very underwhelmed based on the title track but this is at the very least an incredibly solid album, ans at best... I don't know yet. I've only listened to it once.

I know this sounds kinda douche-y to say, but I was pretty sure the single would be the weakest (I love it though so I’m pretty hyped to hear the rest).
I am gonna wait until August 30th when my CD comes in the mail — already requested off and plan to eat some shrooms for that first listen.

Danny goes off on the new album.
He always does but he does it on the new one as well.

First review on Sput when?
I'm gonna wait for the official release, but i always love reading reviews to get an impression of what it could sound like. So far on here and RYM i've read that it is basically 10k days Part II, which itself is kind of a somewhat watered down Lateralus Part II

I'm the other way round. I will not let the voice of subhumans interfere with my initial impressions.
But later, oh yes, I'm reading ALL the reviews.

It's not 10,000 days pt.2, the atmosphere is very different and there are tracks that are quite different than anything they've done before. However with that being said, there are moments and spots on the album that reminisce way too heavily to past material (10,000 days and Lateralus mostly) but I don't think they are too many.

They kinda used all the main ideas on Aenima and then kept on reworking them imo. Forty Six & Two is the core of their sound I'd say.

Invincible's studio version is so fucking huge jesus. I didn't care for it that much the few times I heard it live but it might be my favourite track on second album listen.

Everbody in r/toolband is going nuts about 7empest, saying it sounds like Undertow /Aenima Tool, including angry Maynard vocals and Meshuggah riffs to top it off
That CC trip song don't sound all that promising though

Look I don't want to build on any hype or create unrealistic expectations, but it's pretty good.

I'm liking it more than I thought, cause I wasn't feeling the single, or maybe I just didn't listen to it enough. It's just one of those bands you really can't deny that they are good lol

r/toolband is the worst place to get a reasonable opinion about anything tool related. If you so much as say that you were bored for 10 seconds during the entire album you will be downvoted and ostracized to oblivion by a bunch of fucking fanboy retards

Usually i would agree, but this time around you could see some more criticial voices, that weren't voted down to death. But yeah, the core of Tool stans are pretty damn interolerable

It's better than 10,000 Days, more on Lateralus level. Which I guess not many people expected.

After first listen I would say this is a solid 4.2, slightly better than 10,000 which I suspected. 7empest is easily top 10 Tool song and pneuma is amazing as well.

Invincible is probably the most well constructed and written song in their catalog. Top 5 in their discog for sure.
