entertaining an alternate timeline yeah, I could see that, I could even see if Les ended up joining after Cliff. funny how often the non-metalheads can make some of the best shred

yeah it really is fascinating looking up what influenced metal musicians, especially the early ones when metal was in it's infancy. like chris poland and gar samuelson from the first two megadeth albums came from a jazz fusion band and had never played metal or even had any interest in it.

people from those backgrounds often make for the most interesting.

that whole attitude towards metal still exists in current generations, finding out stuff like that when I was younger kinda blew my mind. makes me think that since I like metal I should probably go start a folk jazz band

"what the frick did u just say abt phantom lord"

Yeah, Phantom Lord is one of the best off KEA. That chorus sounds so sinister, I love it

I could just never get into KEA, which is ironic considering it wears its punk influence on its sleeve. I just don’t think the songwriting is quite there yet, and obv James was just so young. It’s kinda wild how much better he got almost immediately with RTL

Kinda surprised you didn't mention Black Sabbath, as long as we're talking about early metal. Bill Ward is basically a jazz drummer who just happened to be in a metal band, and you can hear it in his playing
