I czech’d this last of all the Deaths and a good time was had, but admittedly I’ve not felt the need to revisit any of their other albums. Hmm, may have actually drunkenly blasted out Leprosy the once (best use of it!)

probably listened to more Defeated Sanity than all other death metal combined in the last year, lol

Maybe we can circle back around some day?

Death is a band I’ve always appreciated in waves. I can’t really listen to them if the mood isn’t right, but when the mood is right it’s like their music opens up all over again and I’m hearing new details everywhere

I listened to them A LOT when I was getting into DM, so I’m just taking a break I guess ☺️

As I’ve aged, Death is really the only DM band I care to listen to anymore. The genre kind of fell out of favor for me, but Death is a 5/5 band.

"The genre kind of fell out of favor for me, but Death is a 5/5 band."

Honestly they're still so unique sounding despite pretty much every band in this genre being influenced by them to some degree. It's hard for me to put my finger on why but I think part of it (among a bunch of other factors too) has to do with Chuck's vocals.

I kind of like the fact that they're not over the top "brutal" and you can actually understand the lyrics for the most part. Also Chuck's lyrics being genuinely good and not cringey unlike a lot of metal bands helps too.

*Death, Gorguts, Cryptopsy (NSV), Defeated Sanity, Atheist (mostly first two), Pestilence (first two), Onward to Golgotha, Ulcerate (EiF, Shines & Stare) and Ad Nauseam is basically all you need

^ I don’t necessarily agree with this, but it’d be a better argument 😆

Nooooo way. All classic but there's too much amazing dm out there to pigeonhole the genre to just a few albums/bands.

Misanthrope is amazing, just like every song here, but after 15 years of spinning this monster, I think I like Sacred Serenity as my current fave. It's so fucking catchy
