This could do with a different flagged review tbh - mostly for score reasons.

I like Harvest better than most of Damnation.

With six cellos, you say?

I guess, depends on the day for me. They aren't Opeth's high point.

"mostly for score reasons"

yeah it's always a little uncomfortable going to classic albums and seeing a low score in the featured review. like sure, everyone has their thoughts on an album, but that should be someone's introduction to the album and reflect its legacy/consensus etc. at least they finally switched out the ones for Crack the Skye and From Mars to Sirius from Nick Greer's 2.0s.

the song Blackwater Park is just a fucking victory lap for metal as a genre and is definitely one of the better pieces of music I've ever heard. pure genius. lost to mediocrity and fedoras

If I must have one complaint about that - and I guess I must; it's what the people want - it's that it's never felt like one coherent song to me. More a collection of good Opeth stuff.

Hm they always felt like coherent songs to me, esp Orchid.

Orchid is much more coherent than Morningrise. But Blackwater t/t is by no means incoherent, it's an absolute unit of Opeth Music TM

What, are you just dismissing my personal opinion? That's pretty rude.

I'm disagreeing with it on the grounds of opinion, not trying to dress up my personal taste as thought out objective analysis

tl;dr yes, shoud I wait for a response or....?

Dude, an opinion can't disagree. We can feel two different ways about this and that's ok.

Tbh, I do agree that the t/t isn't the most coherent song out there. But it has so many kickass moments that I don't really care :]

If I'm being honest, I was just trying to fake-flame, because I felt you were making a throwback to that lame exchange on Mastodon's thread with another user that painted me as the weirdo. But of course opinions can disagree, what are you talking about?
