Well if Deftones on autopilot still make records as good as Gore I’m down for whatever they make I guess.

I noticed the autopilot opinions but it's a bit weird considering people also criticize it for specific quirks

The highs on this are great but the lows are some of the worst songs they've ever done imo.

^Pretty much. Also I'm glad Frank has so much presence on Ohms where he is barely audible here most of the time

First time listening to this, it surprised me. Consistently solid songs from start to finish with a great closer and a few standouts that are now some of my favorite Deftones songs.

I think I've settled on a rating for the new album. 3.8/5, making it their 6th best album. Played it about 8 times total now, including twice in 320 now that it's officially out. Genesis doesn't really hit me, Urantia is completely boring as shit, and everything else is varying degrees of good to excellent. I've come around to Ohms t/t a lot more now but I still think it's their weakest closer in some time. The Spell of Mathematics, Error, and This Link Is Dead are the clear highlights.

Everyone else seems gaga over it so I'm sure you will. It's definitely a great album I just think it's being massice overrated.

Also lol at this guy:

"Their most aggressive full-length since White Pony."

This is 100% false. As far as aggression goes Diamond Ryes makes this look like My Little Pony.

We get it. You don't like it as much as others.

Cool.

Now shut the fuck up.

"you really think they have any aggressive music left in them"

The last 40-seconds of 'This Link is Dead' is more aggressive than anything they've done on their last three albums... so yeah.

You'd think misha mansoor could write a decent riff across 10+ albums' worth of material, but nah

'Radiant City' might be a contender for the grooviest song they've ever written. Shit has so much bounce.

"Now shut the fuck up."

Gee kid, take a chill pill. Was just pointing out how ridiculous that statement is. And the last 40 seconds of This Link Is Dead really doesn't overshadow how much harder Diamond Eyes goes on the whole. Not saying Diamond Eyes is better because it's more aggressive, but this is far tamer than DE so that assertion is very strange to me.
