That may be true Slug but TWFM is still incredible in its own right, not just because it's a National album.

I just think Boxer is overrated and find it crazy that so many people think it’s their best album.
And yeah, Alligator is #2 for me, just have a soft spot for Trouble Will Find Me.

I've listened to Sad Songs more in the last year or so than any of their other work, funnily enough. Gun to my head tho Alligator > Boxer > HV > SWB > SS > TWFM > IAEtF

Tough to say Boxer is overrated.. I think it's a bit more immediate due to their growth as songwriters, the production, and traditional singles being the opening 2 tracks, but it deserves recognition as the first time the band truly established themselves as kings of contemporary alternative music with 0 misses across 2 albums.

“just have a soft spot for Trouble Will Find Me.”
Best national, no doubt about it. Easily my fav

DAMN robertson busting out the Howard Hawks avatar. Legend. Love it.
As far as this album goes, I'm going with the basic bitch pick: Sorrow is easily my favorite track and would rank highly among The National's entire catalog for me. Bloodbuzz Ohio, Lemonworld, and Conversation 16 are next in line.
