@CamiloG: Ok. I am not saying that lyrics are more important than instrumentals, although I am definitely more of a lyrics person than you probably are. For me, lyrics probably generally make up about 20-40 percent of my enjoyment of music (and possibly even more), depending on the genre/style.
I understand and respect that everyone has different considerations when enjoying or rating music, and of course there are no set "rules" for rating things. I am just saying that they exist, so I doesn't make sense to ignore them or say that they do not contribute to the worth of the work. Therefore, if you claim to have a rating for the work, then it must consider everything that can be considered. Beyond that, if the artist put time and thought into writing lyrics, I find it disrespectful to disregard them.

I've never said I disregard them, but the only way I sink myself into a work in orther to analyze lyrics is if I enjoy what I hear. If what I hear doesn't grab my attention and if its not worth at least a 3.5, why should I pay attention to the lyrics if they're not going to save the music itself?

You said, "in my personal case lyrics are not relevant when I'm rating an album", which is pretty much saying you disregard them when it comes to judging an album's worth.
About paying attention to lyrics if they're not going to save the music, maybe they will still enhance the experience to an extent.
When I said lyrics are as important to the musical experience as instrumentals, what I really meant was that they are also a key part of it, not that it is necessarily 50/50 music/lyrics.
No hard feelings. I don't mean to belittle your enjoyment of the music you love.
