Only Aenima is still over this fucking masterpiece. 10k days tracks are 5/5 but the album didn't seem to me very cohesive; Lateralus is cold and inhuman, lacks feelings.
We have to w8 for it, but here it is, album of the decade.

I am choosing between masterpieces, it's not easy. Tool is always 5/5.

"Lateralus is cold and inhuman, lacks feelings." WTF dude! LMAO clearly not interested in separating "the body from the mind" or getting the "so familiar and overwhelmingly warm".
This can be the album of this decade, but I'm not sure...Lateralus tho its it from the preceding decade...the other ones are awesome but definitely not the albums from their decade.

Still no news of new CD pressings for this one. How absurd.

I sort of get what qwenta means about Lateralus. Maynard's vocals are very distant, reserved, almost mechanical on that album. They are much more expressive, on average, on FI. I wouldn't go so far as to claim that Lateralus is, all things considered, unfeeling, but I can see why one might think that.

I don't see that. At all.
Ticks & Leeches, The Grudge's ending, The Patient's ending, Schism's ending, Parabola?
How is anything of that distant or mechanical?

On the subject of jizzing in ones pants, The Lonely Island have released a new record this year. Important news for everyone concerned, real chin stroking music for fans of Tool, or people with tools, I forget.

Rik VII, I meant to say that there are exceptions, where Maynard is more expressive on Lateralus. But a lot of the time he is more distant, at least much more so than he is on FI. I mean, it really struck me when I listened to Lateralus again recently. The verses on The Grudge for instance.

Note that I don't think that distant and mechanical necessarily means bad, or even ultimately emotionless, just a different approach to conveying emotion, which might not work for some listeners.

Thx for expressing my thoughts. It's not bad, it gives Lateralus a different vibe than Aenima's got, but I like more a less distant, more personal, Maynard. Aenima, 10k days and FI bring us a way more emotional Maynard than Lateralus did.

I jammed Ticks and Leaches the other day as far as tantrums in compound time go it's pretty expressive
