I've definitely heard people say he's too nasally.

Hope the new album is a return to his infinitely better stuff like good kid. This album is incredibly homogeneous and far less creative imo

Complaints ppl have about this can be dumbed down to three categories
1. Nasal voice
2. Too woke
3. I do not like jazz

fanboy defenses of this can be summed up as:
1. misconstruction of other people's criticism

I'm not criticizing the critiques, that's just what they are. Those are the talking points, I don't mind if people believe those things about the album.

They're what I've heard. Obviously I paraphrased the main ideas but whatever; Obviously there are more complex analyses and criticisms that can be made about the album, but those are the basis of a lot of the negative reception this album got.

I've heard a lot of good negative critiques of this album: too homogenous, a preference for his execution of the sounds of his previous albums (both made on the previous page); too much "ambition," bogged down in a particular sound, not enough pointed execution; too preoccupied and distracted from the narrative in some songs than others (which I'd critique Kendrick for in general); execution goofier than the content of the album; general dislike for the sound and songwriting, and a bunch more on this thread alone.
I don't know, it's hard not to expect more vocal criticisms of an album that's so overblown and overrepresented on a site like this.

See: TDAG thread over the past couple weeks. And that album is much older.

I feel like more often than not the vocal minority kind of dominates threads like this and TDAG.

I don't mean to bring up an old argument, but I'd be interested in seeing how the average ratings changed were we to allow 1/1.5 ratings on albums like these. It might be baseless, but from what I've seen on rating pages, I'd assume a lot of the 5 ratings on here were from one-time users and people creating an account for that rating alone in the first place, so it'd be a lot more reflective of the site's feelings were we to allow them. Of course, I don't doubt the rating would still be significant, as shown in Macman's 2015 list, but it'd still be interesting.

I'm always going to be hypercritical of this guy because of his universal adulation tho . I just don't hear a flawless record by any means but maybe i'm looking for the wrong things idk maybe we're all different
