would have loved pomepji as the closer, that ambient fadeout is incredible

Ceremony and Pompeji sound like what Gore should have been like. Headless and Error could have easily been included in Koi No Yokan.

I love headless. Record is on another level compared to Gore. Way more textured, cohesive and dynamic at the same time. Loving it so far. Expecting the avg to sit in at 4.1

Might be able to listen tonight if the 320 leaks.

Man, I got into this band around mid-2017 and have been spinning them endlessly since. Hated this at first but grew to eventually like it, but having the worst Deftones as the latest has always been a bummer. That's finally gonna change.

I had heard Ohms (the single) like 15 times before hearing the actual album and I thought it was okay, but now that I listen to the whole thing this song has grown so much on me it's unreal.

Is Genesis the only really heavy banger on the new one?

no, This Link is Dead and Radiant City are heavy but not all-out brutally heavy

Chino has a really aggressive performance on TLID tho and he's great

I don’t even buy CDs anymore but I kind of want to pick this up tomorrow since I have all their other albums from back in the day.

It could be really nostalgic having my first listen via CD.

This Link Is Dead is heavy but in a more aggressive, intense tight kind of way, not a big bombastic climax kind of way.

So would it be safe to say the new one is a mix of KNY and Gore? That seems to be the consensus.

Maybe with a little bit of S/T thrown in there?
