not really, a lot of us have been with him since s80 or before and prefer that sound because its more raw west coast hip hop and anyone listening to him back then is more likely to be a longtime fan of the genre and/or a fan of that sound so they weren't as into the jazz thing but even among them people didn't not like it, big difference

The overall consensus among normal irl people that I've talked to is tpab isn't better then gkmc or s80 but it's still very very good. Seriously haven't seen anyone really hate on this album (or Kendrick himself) outside of sput rym etc.
