@trickerz i can strongly recommend the Frost media versions (And Justice for Jason). I like most remastered actually put the bass at a normal level and it actually adds to the mix quite a bit in my opinion. In only listen to that version

disc 6 of the boxset has an unmixed/mastered "work in progess" recording for every track. none of kirk's solos are on them except the clean solos in "one" (which are kinda different!), but the rhythm guitar, drums, vocals are all basically what is on the final album... and along with that... jason's bass is very very audible in the mix. drums also sound a bit less clicky than on the album
and let me tell you, jason is going ham on "dyers eve" to the point he's kinda drowning out the main riff lmao. i respect his skills as a player more than ever after jamming this
i know there's been tons of bootlegs out there forever but its cool there's kind of a official metallica release of the album before james and lars got their hands on the soundboard lmao

"Any thoughts on the versions of Justice floating around with added/boosted bass?"
Old comment, but for me, it depends on how much they boost the bass... I don't like the mixes in which it gets overcorrected and overtakes all the other instruments (looking at you, And Justice for Jason). Honestly, Nagy László's attempt is probably the best I've heard so far; the bass is much more audible than the original, but also done in such a way that it blends near-seamlessly with everything else in the mix

Energetic Disassembly is the superior choice as you can get the same thin guitar tone but with bass you can actually hear and a more technical flair that even this album can't match.

Mixes of this with added bass never work for me, because the guitar and drums are scooped in such a way that they leave no room for bass. The album needs a complete remix, but the stems are long gone.
