I would also agree that melodeath and death metal can be very far apart, but the dm realm is quite varied anyway. Ulcerate is death metal, but so is Children of Bodom and so is Autopsy. They sound very different.

I don't consider COB dm at all. Melodeath with lots of neoclassical and power metal mixed in. Thats not dm to me, but thats just my opinion lol.
